wendy has a great friending meme right now, but with the new Fall 2007 tv season about to start in the US, it's probably a good time for a general-interest tv-inspired friending meme, too.

Last night, I was thinking about how a year or so ago, some people on my flist were looking forward to the first season of Studio 60 and others were squeeing about the Heroes pilot, and some were wondering what would happen on House, or SPN, or any one of a dozen other shows - and now a new fall season is just around the corner and dvds of last season are hitting stores with regularity, so please participate and pimp, regardless of where you live, or even if you own a tv set! If you're interested in any currently-airing shows, this meme is for you!

I will absolutely never watch... Survivor. At first, I just didn't bother. Now, it's a badge of honor and I become more and more gleeful about the fact I am probably the only person on the planet with a tv and CBS that has never watched more than five minutes of a program.

As a clarification on the series rec, when I say 'HBO series', HBO tends to produce entertaining/provocative series. Then I tried to narrow it down to two series I did watch. While Carnival is an HBO series, Dark Angel is not. I have Dark Angel on my mind because I've started another DA (not Dumbledore's Army) vidding project and Jensen really is pretty. :-)

My favorite episode(s) from last season on those shows is/are: Oh, jeez. Heroes is tough because I really did like most of them. Doctor Who is probably Blink, but any of the last half of the season were awesome. Bones was the one where they were buried alive in the car (no idea of the title). Lost would also be most of the second half of the season. Iron Chef would be any that that bitch Kareem Bakum isn't in. Torchwood would be the one where Cap'n Jack met the nice gay soldier, probably. Psych was Spelling Bee, no doubt. Numbers maybe the one with the woman who had the painting stolen by the Nazis.


My favorite character(s)/pairing(s) from last season on those shows is/are: Heroes I actually like the Hiro/Ando ship. Bones I love Angela/Jack. Other than that, nothing spectacular.

This season, I'm looking forward to these new shows (talking fall programs only, not the last vestiges of overlapping summer fare still airing): Pushing Daisies; Reaper; Chuck; Journeyman; Aliens in America; The Sarah Connor Chronicles. So-so on Bionic Woman. Planning to check out, at least once, K'ville; Dirty,Sexy,Money; Gossip Girl; Moonlight. I'll give Torchwood another go when it hits BBCA - saw a few eps that a friend d/l'd and burned to disk for me, and I wasn't all that enthralled. But I'm going to try again when it airs starting in a couple of weeks. I mean, it's John Barrowman, after all.
This season, I'm planning on continuing to watch: Lost, Supernatural, Heroes, The Office, Dexter, Bones, Battlestar Galactica. Will dvr Prison Break, House and CSI to see where they go to determine whether or not to keep dvr'ing. Same with SGA, though my interest has waned (and I'm nervous about the season four changes), and now really only remains with Flanigan's prettiness and pairing Sheppard with Ronon and/or Teyla.

My favorite character(s)/pairing(s) from last season on those shows is/are: Honestly, I find the series I stay with are the ones where I'm more interested in the story in general and the entire cast of characters as they fit into the entire arc and story line than in one or two specific characters or a pairing, even when I have a sideline slash interest. Shows I find myself losing interest in are the ones where I'm only hanging on to catch a glimpse of certain characters or actors (e.g., see SGA). The shows I'm sticking with are the ones with casts I'm fully committed to. It would be easier to list which characters from those shows I wasn't all that high on, if any (like, on Heroes, I could do with less Nicki and Matt, if forced to choose).
If I had to recommend two shows from last season that are coming back this year, they'd be: *ack* That's hard! I'd recommend all of them! ;) Lost and Supernatural, picking two off the top of my head.
If I had to recommend two shows that aren't airing anymore but which can be obtained via DVD or (ideally legal) download, they'd be: Veronica Mars and Life on Mars (it's a celestial theme!).
I will absolutely never watch: Grey's Anatomy and Criminal Minds.
I'd like to pimp the community/communities at: I think folks have pimped the communities I'd pimped, but mostly I'd liked to find new communities to join via this meme and ditch a bunch (most) I'm just not interested in anymore that I'm still a member of. Time for some house cleaning! :)
I also: Read a lot of meta and try to write meta, more so than I read fan fiction these days, though I do still enjoy the occasional piece of fan fiction. I just don't have as much time as I used to have to read a lot of it. I follow certain writers and recs and pairings when I do read it. I also enjoy fan vids very much. I used to write some fan fiction, but haven't written anything in years. Maybe one of these days the muse will strike again.

This season, I'm planning on continuing to watch: Weeds; Dexter; LOST; ReGenesis; MI-5; Sleeper Cell (if they decide to do more); Supernatural; Medium; BSG; Dr Who; The Office; Brotherhood; Heroes; Amazing Race. With waning or intermittent interest:: Boston Legal; The Unit; CSI; House; Bones. My favorite character(s)/pairing(s) from last season on those shows is/are: I'm not so much with the pairings anymore. I'm having trouble seeing slash potential, where it used to grow like grass. I'm more about individual characters these days, so the ones I'd follow anywhere from my regularly watched shows are: Nancy (Weeds); Locke (LOST); Kara (BSG); Dean (SPN); Tommy, Dekko (Brotherhood).

If I had to recommend two shows from last season that are coming back this year, they'd be: I've recently discovered Brotherhood, and am very high on that. And probably Supernatural because I feel it works on a couple of different levels and I think if non-genre people gave it a chance they'd discover there's still something there for them.
