1. Show was fantastic. That is not a spoiler. I may have time to write more tomorrow, but suffice to say, I can't wait to vid with this episode. Unfortunately for [livejournal.com profile] autumn_lilacs, I have to start over with the Sweet Charity vid I was making for her, because my internal hard drive, which had all my eps of SPN S4 on it, crashed last week, which means the editing I'd already done is lost. But it's all in my head, so I should be able to finish it by the 20th-ish.

2. Radar has uploaded a fantastic interview with Michael Salling, who plays Puck in Glee - stay through the end, because he does a solo while accompanying himself on piano, and it's just shiny.

3. Eye on San Diego covered Azkatraz and you can now watch it on YouTube )

Can you spot my husband?

Met all the senior staff of the hotel yesterday, met my cohorts on the con-team that I hadn't previously been able to meet, unpacked boxes and boxes of swag - some to give, some to earn, some to sell), squeed madly over the volunteer and security t-shirts and was agog at how perfectly fantastic the program is, mapped out the layout for the vendor room, and had amazing Indian food from one of the three Indian places across the street.

Very busy today getting everything set for Registration, and then doing registration at the hotel from noon until six PM. Note: If the line is long at any point, it will probably get better later - and if you are not going to HBP tonight, we strongly recommend not picking up your registration pack until tomorrow, because fewer people will need to check in. If you are in line at six, we'll get you your pack before the movie; if you get here after six, you can pick up your movie ticket at the theater.

If you can come and help stuff registration packets, come knock on the door of the Lombard room or find us in Embarcadero. If you can help for 2.5 hours today, you get your Volunteer t-shirt (and all our appreciation).

And if you are at 2-ish this afternoon, Leslie Combemale and my husband are heading over to the Watchmen exhibit at the Cartoon Art Museum :: 655 Mission Street. Reply if you want to go, and I'll get you on the list.

Off to find a reasonably good bagel...

heidi: You're busy blogging! (BusyBlogging)
I am writing this post on an airplane at about 32,000 feet en route from NYC to South Florida, and I can't believe almost exactly 120 hours from now, I will be landing in San Francisco for [info - community]azkatraz! Keep your eye on the LJ Spotlight next week, btw, and don't be surprised to find random mentions of Azkatraz in various magazines, papers and blogs over the next week or so.

[info - personal]yourlibrarian reports that fanfiction is now a dictionary term! Hurrah!

To celebrate (no, not really, but it works!) FictionAlley is hosting a dinner at the Tonga Room a week from Sunday (July 19) in San Francisco. You don't have to have you fic or art or meta hosted on FictionAlley to attend, and you don't have to be registered for Azkatraz - you just have to enjoy Harry Potter and have some interest in a Polynesian-esque dinner in a very kitschy restaurant with extremenly kitschy drinks.

Cost is $25 per person, plus whatever you drink that isn't water or coffee, and you need to RSVP to me by Monday afternoon by commenting on this post or emailing me at heidi @ fictionalley.org (without the spaces). Payable that night, or via paypal beforehand. Spread the word!

I'll be making a post this evening or tomorrow on the Az website about a new addition to the MPA schedule at ZEUM on Monday - one of the creators of the Bertie Botts flavours of Jelly Bellys will be talking about the creation process, and hosting a bit of a tasting at the MPA luncheon, which you can only attend with an MPA registration. We're even going to get to hear about some of the flavors that WB rejected, which I think will be incredibly amusing.

There's a smattering of photos from last night's HBP premiere on my twitter so this was either a very good time or a very bad time for loudtwitter to stop crossposting. Not sure if I am going to move to that new site or not, at least not until after ComicCon, because I'm going to be twittering a lot about panels and interviews, etc. And the headbands I got in NYC today, which I'll be wearing in California - only one of them is pink. But it is very, very pink.

Have not seen Torchwood, but I have willingly spoiled myself - hope to catch up on all of it when I fly out to SF on Wednesday. I watched the first part while flying to NC on Tuesday but the download I did on Tuesday night didn't work, so I'm stockpiling. And on LJ I am at skip=650, which brings me back to about Tuesday. Am saving full reaction posts to read once I've seen it all.

When is Leverage back with S2, btw? Will I miss a lot of it while I'm traveling? And why are *they* not at Comic Con? It's definitely geeky enough!

Oh! Does anyone want a pair of tickets to HBP at Azkatraz? Since I saw it last night, I don't need to go again so soon. 25 bucks for the pair if you want them (since everyone is going to get $5 back when they pick up their tickets, since the sums paid were more than the tickets ended up costing). To avoid giving Sandy the Registrar more annoyance, I'll pick up the tickets and have them to give to whoever takes them off my hands on Thursday afternoon.evening.

Huh, it didn't crosspost from Dreamwidth the other day (and here I was just thinking I'd picked a bad time of the day/week to post a vid again) - but I think I just didn't check the tickybox.

So, belatedly:

In the final Sweet Charity auction, I won [livejournal.com profile] cho_malfoy's phenomenal writing skillz, and requested something April Fool-ish and pranky featuring Sam & Dean, and oh, she gave me something adorable and bro-tastic and full of perfect pranks and the perfect mix of angst and silliness. I love it, and you must read it!

And I finally managed to finish my [livejournal.com profile] livelongnmarry fic for the wonderfully patient [livejournal.com profile] yourlibrarian!

Title: Tall Cool One

Song by: Robert Plant

Rating: PG-13

Ships: Sam/Various Women, subtextual Sam/Dean

Spoilers through 4.22

Summary: Sammy Winchester strolls. He jumps. He's hot and he's a tease. He's a tall cool one, and he's built to please.

How to Watch: Imeem isn't embedding anymore, and YouTube hates my audio track, but you can watch it here or download it from megaupload in high res or low-res versions.

And squee, now I get to spend more time in the next few weeks working on my bigbang vids for [livejournal.com profile] finn21 and [livejournal.com profile] __tiana__.
I also saw the new Rebecca Rubin doll from American Girl and I am considering it for Catie, because I like the idea of her having a Jewish doll, but Rebeccca's story sounds very similar to Ella in the All Of A Kind Family series, so I am not sure about the books. But how can I choose between Rebecca and my clone-doll Chrissa? Does the Doll of the Year for this year stay on the shelves through December?
And some quick Azkatraz notes:
1. Quidditch info & signup procedure info for the FOG BOWL (lovely logo courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] glockgal)
2. Info and signup procedure info for drabbling, drawbling, fanfic readings, portfolio showings, and time-slots for the recording and video studios at ZEUM are here! Please sign up to create some magic at Azkatraz - or read or showcase something you've already created.

Pretty things:
1. Adam Lambert on Rolling Stone
2. Jensen Ackles, golfing
3. The rainbow I saw the other day

Things That Are Relevant Only to People Going to Azkatraz
1. Our update on the IMAX situation and refunds and such.
2. Sign-ups for the Drabble/Drawble/Fic Readings/Portfolio Showings/Time in the Recording Studio

Things We Need for Azkatraz
1. Two laptops for Registration
2. 3-4 Netbooks (8.5 inches or more) for use in various locations

If you have a 1-2 year old model of either that you want to unload, please let me know - we don't have a huge budget, but you can get a tax deduction if you donate it.

Prologue of Importance re Azkatraz: If you have submitted a programming proposal for Azkatraz and have not been sent an email about the presenters' Yahoogroup, or some other email from [personal profile] flourish you need to get in touch with the programming team at submissions @ hp2009.org (without the spaces) so you can get your confirmation and release sent in by June 10, or you will not be able to present at Azkatraz. We need to finish the program and we can't do it without the confirmation paperwork in hand.

1. When taking kids to a kids-camp thing on a cruise ship put their names on their shoes - they might get taken by another kid who's about the same size late on the first night but you'll have an easier time claiming they're yours the next day at the pool.

2. What a thunderstorm looks like coming over a tiny bahamian island, and how a daquari tastes with a little sand in it (not terrible)

3. What the prices are for badge holders at ten different imprinting companies

4. That "Waking Up in Vegas" might make for a cracktastic HP vid, but I'm still looking for prompts to vid for Azkatraz. If you have a dream HP vid, tell me the song and a prompt in comments and if it inspires me, I'll vid it for the vidding show that [profile] chaeche is organizing for Azkatraz.

5. What a house looks like when balloons float it to South America.

6. That there still is no six. SQUIRREL!

7. That Chris Pine played Bill Pullman's son in Bottleshock, which also starred Alan Rickman.

8. The possible and/or proper size of a stage for Wrock performances

9. Some scheduelish things for Comic Con

10. Disney's put out a Wilderness Explorers' Guide that contains all the badges from the movie, and how to earn them - plus how Russell earned each of them. Make sure you look at the last page, and any kid or grownup who loved UP will adore all the stickers. I still hope Disney makes them into pins - I would love to pretend-earn them with my kids. I know some of you have kids who do boy scouts, but we wouldn't because we disagree with many of the national positions and mandates. Our kids get a lot of the same activities and information via temple activities, but this is different, and it's a terrific way for a former Girl Scout like me to share the enjoyment of badge-earning with my kids. Sometimes, I am so thankful that the Girl Scouts movement doesn't have the same issues as the boys.

11. How to change the pitch on an audio track.

12. What it feels like when your kid has only one more year of elementary school, and wins the award for most books AR points accumulated in the school for the year.

13. What it feels like to break a pinky-toe on the diagonal. Unlike [personal profile] copperbadge I have decorated my boot in pink sparkly heart stickers made of foam. But we agree that we should start a club for Fandomers With Broken Bones In Their Feet. We will call it the Club Foot (Sam's idea).

14. That I really should have been watching AI all season because I sort of adore Adam Lambert and Kris Allen more or less equally, and think that parallels the fact that for the last two years the two artists I've listened to most on iTunes are the Scissor Sisters and Jason Manns.

15. That YouTube won't allow the song Tall Cool One on a vid, but iMeem is ok with it, so I've posted my [profile] livelongnmarry vid commissioned by the fantastically patient [personal profile] yourlibrarian set to said song here. Formal posting sometime tomorrow or later tonight if I'm not exhausted by the time the kids go to sleep.

16. That the occupational license people here require a copy of the back side of my Bar Card even though there is no personalized content on that side, thereby necessitating extra walking by me and my broken foot. Fail, city.

17. That my sixth grade class was very trendsetting because on the way home from my 11th birthday at a skating rink in south Miami back in 1982 me and all the girls in my class sat in the back of the school bus we'd rented for the day singing "Don't Stop Believing" over and over and over. Oh, GLEE!

18. Oh gosh, so much more. I have recs and squee and OMG Azkatraz news and photos from Universal of the fantabulous Wizarding World of Harry Potter (under construction) and so much love for the sandy beach on Disney's Castaway Cay and at Universal's Portofino Bay hotel but I have four or five more vids to edit, some ephemera to create, kids to get to sleep, a camp duffel to finish packing and stuff to write for the Azkatraz program and popcorn to make (on the stove, with olive oil)

19. Total Eclipse of the Heart! Have you seen the Literal Version of the vid yet? If not, GO NOW! ETA Oh, look! There are now t-shirts, and it just hit over one million views! Go, them!

I am so swamped under by SPN BigBang vids, getting things ready for assignment-distribution for [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen, Sweet Charity and livelongnmarry vid commissions, Azkatraz program writing, the end of the school year for the kids, shopping for camp supplies, RL work (I'll be back in Raleigh in June!) and unpacking from the Disney cruise + Universal trip we took with the kids last weekend, but eventually I will post re all the above. Not now, though - as I am doing trademark search report analysis in the middle of a bowling alley while a class party takes place ten feet away.

But right now, I wanted to squee that we've posted the Formal Programming schedule for Azkatraz - the PDFs are linked from here. SO many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] flourish and [livejournal.com profile] nqdonne for their terrific scheduling prowess, [livejournal.com profile] emmagrant01 for help with the Call for Programming and vetting, [livejournal.com profile] jennclack for PDFing and all the presenters who've submitted their confirmations and releases - we could not have done this without you!

And if you got a note from us a few months ago that your programming was accepted, but you're not on the list, please email us ASAP at info @ hp20009.org or leave a comment here - you're not listed because we didn't get your confirmation and/or release, and we haven't been able to get in touch with you. But we still want you to present, so let's coordinate on your paperwork and add you to the list asap. (And if you know anyone in this situation, please pass this info on to them! THANKS!)

We also have a few booths still available in the Vendor Room. They are $350 per booth (size will be either 8x8 or 10x10) through June, and more information is available at our Vendor PDF.

And there's a few days left to submit a sketch or completed design for our T-Shirt Challenge! Find Your Flock at Azkatraz

At every HPEF event, we've provided opportunities for people to get together with fellow members of fansites or communities, fans of specific ships or theories, Wrock bands and Muggle books, tv shows and films, etc.

Azkatraz will be no different.

A limited amount of space will be available at the Parc55 Hotel each day, as well as during our pre-conference day (Friday, July 17) for you to hold your gatherings - and kerryblaze is serving as the Flock Coordinator. We will list on our website any events taking place between July 15 and July 22 for Azkatraz attendees and friends.

Meet ups planned at a nearby restaurant, park, Starbucks, etc, can also be advertised on the Azkatraz website; however, the planning and reservations of the facilities must be handled by a group's coordinator(s).

To learn more about having your group's event or meet-up listed on the website, click here.

But, I handwave, because they are both so, so pretty and angsty, and fangirljen knows what I want to vid them to and I listened to it again today and depending on what happens next week I may have no choice but to do it.

Also caught up on Chuck, and finally saw The Stork Job episode of Leverage, which means the only one I haven't seen is The Snow Job - but alas, I also cannot find the list of the order in which the episodes were supposed to air. Anyone have a link?

keepaofthecheez asked me earlier about the Twitterers on the Leverage production team - Dean Devlin is Electric44 after his lovely Tesla, Jon Roger is JonRog1 (he's also the blogger of the bunch), and I think there is one more but I can't find it...

I watched the last three episodes of Heroes one after the other today. I missed the Turn & Face the Strange when I flew out to California, and it kept locking when I tried to play it on my computer and on my ipod.
