Why don't I have an icon that says gleespoiler ) yet?

I should probably bid on some icon makers' goodies at [livejournal.com profile] help_nz (If you're not following it yet, you should!)

And why the hell doesn't the Gleetour go anywhere on the east coast south of Washington, DC? Atlanta, at least, would've been viable - but if Aaron is working in NY during any of the northeast dates I may just manage it...

No, there was nothing in the water when we got together back in December, I swear! It's just a coincidence that [livejournal.com profile] deirdre_c and I posted Sammy-centric vids with an effing theme this week!

My If You Seek Sammy (to Britney's If You Seek Amy) was posted in celebration of Happy Unattached Drifter's Christmas Valentine's Day, and [livejournal.com profile] deirdre_c's brilliantly clever and epic Fudge You (to Cee Lo's F-- You) went up the next day.

Must be something about this week that puts the theme into our minds. Because it wasn't the tequila!

In other news, I'm sick with a headcold and sore throat, and while taking my daughter to tae kwon do this afternoon, I tripped in the parking lot and ripped one knee while re-damaging the meniscus in the other one. Time for some ice and R&R and a look at some of the articles about the Issues with the new Wonder Woman script and the possibility of a spinoff from Castle starring Teh Pasdar (oh, I HOPE!).

Quick poll! Involving things I am doing this summer! Because...

Unforgiven )

PS - did I ever write up a reaction to last week's episode? If not, I may catch it back up eventually but it'll be basically 98% squeeeeeeeeeeeee + flail to the omg power.

If you are interested in a CHAIR-LEVEL POSITION at Ascendio 2012, and you have not already gotten in contact with [[livejournal.com profile] flourish], now would be the appropriate time to do so.

Even if you are not interested in a chair-level position, if you would like to volunteer your time and abilities before the convention itself, please send a message to ascendio2012 at gmail dotcom (yeah, yeah, I still haven't set up the email addresses).

I am particularly interested in anybody who would like to be a point person for accessibility, including both (1) the accessibility of the site and (2) the accessibility of the website. You can do one or both or whatever.

It's going to be an amazing event - a lot smaller and more intimate than Infinitus, and while it'll still be at Universal, we're moving to the Portofino Bay Resort, which is gorgeous and very Beauxbatons, with natural light in some of the ballrooms, a fabulous courtyard and a very Diagon-Alley-ish area, too.

The forums and review boards have been restored. Visit us in the Park at http://forums.fictionalley.org

The fic management page isn't working yet. Once this error is resolved, we expect to be able to begin processing new content. Also, when we went down, we lost a small amount of Park posts, and a few dozen new pieces of art in ArtisticAlley. We are going to try and recover them, but we're at least a week - possibly three - away from that happening. If you have art that you uploaded before the crash that you can't find on AA now, you can re-upload it.

In better news, over the next month, we're going to have some new projects, contests, challenges, group re-reads and more, in the lead-up to the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part Two. Stay tuned as we start to launch those this weekend...

We've set up a thread in Suggestions & Questions for bug reports. You can also email the help desk at help [at] fictionalley.org (without the spaces and with an @ instead of the word "[at]").

Thank you so much for your patience and support through this frustrating and transitional time. We could not have done it without all of you - authors, readers, artists, Parkies, donors and anonymous visitors. We're looking forward to a wonderful 2011 on FictionAlley with you!

I was going through late-2005 LJ posts today to try and find my Year In Review from that year, and found the start of what I hope will be a New Project Through July: The Harry Potter Flashback Moment of the Week.

In the spring of 2005, [livejournal.com profile] ellen_fremedon asked If you could make JK Rowling write one line into Book Six, what would it be?

Mine was this: "Lucius Malfoy was nothing but a social climber anyway; didn't you ever learn that your godfather was supposed to marry his cousin Narcissa, but when he announced that he was in love with one of his roommates..."

Suggestions for other things to flash back to later? I'm trying to avoid wankiness, and omgwtf or amusing things are ideal.

Day 18 - A place that matters to you

My house. The house two miles away where we lived from 1999 - 2006. My dorms at Penn, my apartment in NYC, the Paramount Theater's atrium at Madison Square Garden where I met Aaron in August of 1994. "My" Lush store in Aventura. All of London and Washington, D.C., my favorite Chinese restaurant on Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade, the bit along the Berlin Wall pathway where I chipped a bit of wall out in the summer of 1992, my kids' school, my synagogue, the kindergarten I went to which I revisited back in November. The Burger King you had to pass when going from the subway below the World Trade Center to the American Stock Exchange building because I passed it every day in the summer of 1989, and the sushi restaurant two doors away.

And, of course, Walt Disney World - the whole, massive, insanely sprawly thing that I know every inch of (except the bits around Tower of Terror and Rock & Roller Coaster, which I avoid in terror - and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which I am learning every detail of.
