I was going through late-2005 LJ posts today to try and find my Year In Review from that year, and found the start of what I hope will be a New Project Through July: The Harry Potter Flashback Moment of the Week.

In the spring of 2005, ellen_fremedon asked If you could make JK Rowling write one line into Book Six, what would it be?

Mine was this: "Lucius Malfoy was nothing but a social climber anyway; didn't you ever learn that your godfather was supposed to marry his cousin Narcissa, but when he announced that he was in love with one of his roommates..."

Suggestions for other things to flash back to later? I'm trying to avoid wankiness, and omgwtf or amusing things are ideal.

Remember when Casey Kasem used to do a flashback on American Top Forty every weekend?

I'm going to *try* to remember to start doing an HP Fandom Flashback every week, at least through the release of HBP in November, starting now.

This is my flashback for the first week of July, 2008. This fabulous quiz, created by mctabby in July, 2002, predated the release of Chamber of Secrets to movie theaters, but we'd already seen Christian Couslon as Tom Riddle in the trailers and interest in him, and in Dan's suddenly deeper voice, was heating up.

The quiz results also show an interesting mix of links to forum threads, Yahoogroups, and LJ comms that marked the transition of many HP fanfic writers among those three different modes of communications. And, of course, the quiz itself was on a GEOCITIES page. How many of you had one? And when was the last time you updated it? Or even looked back at it?
