I've been writing this post in dribs & drabs in email all day, and it's become just a set of highlights of The Day LJ Stood Still.

Normally, if I can't get onto lj for 28 hours I wonder if I'm missing anything interesting - I didn't feel like that today because I knew I at least wasn't missing interesting posts - there just *were* none. Tomorrow, otoh...

Went to Oceans 12 last night - very cute and you could tell they had a lot of fun with it. Did anyone see it without having seen 11? I can't see how it would've made sense in that way. I also wonder how Benedict is going to explain things on his tax return. The meta was very amusing, and I didn't like Brad Pitt's hair.

Then we went to this cute restaurant that we hadn't been to since august. We went for the good-enough food and the amazing molten chocolate cake. They've changed the menu, though - no more molten cake. Le sigh.

But I made it up to myself by having a nutella + strawberries crepe this morning for brunch.

Stumbled into a new manicure place today - the theme is PINK. [livejournal.com profile] praetorianguard would not like its scheme, but [livejournal.com profile] ari_o would, and [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical would comment on the glitter. [livejournal.com profile] sjbranford would never cross the threshold.

[livejournal.com profile] tea_and_toast, [livejournal.com profile] praetorianguard approved my Nefarious Plan, which should make for an interesting spring. I see april fools in the context somehow. Whee.

Jasper Fforde is auctioning off some Thursday Next & writing stuff - proceeds will go to tsunami relief. Cool guy. Auction ends on Jan. 27.

Now, I'm off to catch up on whatever's made it to my flist so far - and I have a question for all of you - what did you do for your Day Off From LJ?

Jon just had his second well-baby visit.

And we realised that I give birth to two month old babys.

He's now 9lbs 6oz and 21 and 3/4 inches (and I have to redo his carseat as he's outgrown the "newborn" setting).

And... the scariest thing is...

He's teething!!!!!!!!!

Yes, he is 2 weeks old (technically, 44 weeks post-conception, which is sort of relevant for teeth) and his teeth are about to sprout through his gums - sometime within the next 10 days or so.

Meh.

Am, as many of you know, NURSING, and I don't intend to stop but...

How do you nurse a one-month-old who could hurt when he bites?

Any advice? Help? PLEASE?

Click here to see a (215kb) pic of Jonathon. It's a bit blurry - better image to come, but hopefully this will do for now.

We are happy, we are resting, we are (well, Jon is) enjoying milk.

Thanks so much to everyone who posted, emailed and YMed such sweet wishes - I had my bberry with me, as all of you can probably guess, and those messages were so sweet to read in the wee, wake-filled hours of the morning.

I need to go eat, so I can nourish the little guy, but for those who are not squeemish, here's a short version of the birth story )

Amazing facts:

Harrison and Jonathon were both born on Monday mornings after Sunday night
checkins and about 14 hours of labour.

My ex roommate Stacey and her husband had a baby girl - Emily - a few hours before Jon was born. We are thrilled and expect Jon and Emily's wedding should take place right after they graduate from Penn in 2025.

I didn't get to switch on the "delivery" playlist on the MP3 player as we sorta ran our of time (see behind cut for explanation) so when he was born, the song on the player was the Finn Bros Paradise (Wherever You Are) and when they put him on my chest about a minute later, the song that started playing was the Ewan MacGregor version of Your Song. And yes, I sang it to him - and have, a dozen times since.

He's lifting his head a bit already, and knows his mama by sight and sound.

Harry is beyong thrilled with his baby brother, and all he wants to do is kiss him and show him toys and say that he can play with them later.

I'm in heaven...

This is Cassie posting for Heidi. This is not Heidi. Heidi is busy.

The 411 on Jumper Tandy:

Born at: 11:40 AM. Heidi called me at: 12:20. She's insane.

Eight pounds, seven ounces.

Twenty-two inches. (Don't ask me if this is length or width or what, I don't know anything about babies. -ed.)

No drugs.

His name is Jonathon Avi Tandy.

He is apparently a Harry/Hermione shipper and has no plans to read any slash in the near future.

Everyone go congratulate Heidi please!

*throws confetti*

[livejournal.com profile] praetorianguard is closing the Birth Pool as I type this, because I'm now set for induction Sunday night and Monday morning, which is, imho, pretty much the equivilent of going into labour, but much more fraught with stress and neurosis on my end.

Can those of you who had induced labours please let me know how they went, in as much detail as you're willing to give? And of you had bebes who were engaged at the time that you had the induction, that would really help me.

Off for a butterscotch sundae, which my MIL says will work...

1. Has nobody mentioned that on the last Buffy, there was a mention of "The Bad Place"?

: waves to Joss, who, I again am convinced is hanging out in some section of the fandom

2. As many of you know, we've spent the past seven months renovating our house. These images are *very* high res, but if you're interested in seeing Aaron's Comic Book Closet or the dining room walls (raspberry coloured) feel free to click.

3. In other news, still pregnant. But my sister is finally in the state, from California (although she's hanging out at Disney until I go into labour) so I'm glad she'll be here when Bebe decides to show up. Likely plan is that if I don't go into labour on my own, I'll be induced a week from today.

Simon, are you happy now?

And now we know, this child will be a gemini. Yay.

Still pregnant.

Feeling fine.

Still about 4-5 days behind on LJ.

Off to swim.

Happy Mother's Day to all my fellow mums, too!

General update: I've been having intermittent contractions, but the sort that are totally unsequenced, and they're not getting particularly more intense or longer at all, although it's been going on for at least coming on five hours now. So I think I'll be hanging in there for a while longer.

I'm pretty much AFK for the weekend, because of a birthday party and mother's day, and my sister's anniversary, although I'm emailable - I'm terribly far behind on LJs and comments, etc - I don't think I've been up to date since Wednesday.

If you emailed me or YMed me, and I haven't replied, send it again. The bberry erased about 40 messages last night :(

: waves - have good days, everyone. Enjoy the impending summertime. Unless you're in Australia or Argentina, in which case...
