How do you make yours? How do you prefer yours?

I can still remember being at EuroDisney back in 1992 and being handed popcorn with sugar on it, and being told they had it no other way (UGH).

I do my popcorn on the stove, in a pot, with olive oil or rosemary-infused oil. I only use Orville Reddenbacher kernels and I only put sea salt (or sea salt + a Choulua chili-lime spices) on it.

Microwave popcorn is vile, and I never eat it. Air-popped is ok, with good salt and spices on it.

If I had my way, I would eat only popcorn today, in celebration and commemoration of this wonderful food!

And huh, I have a tag for popcorn? I did not remember that! (But I did just get to see the People's Choice Award ad for SPN on the CW, yay.)

The best popcorn I've ever had was curry popcorn at Tokyo Disney. They use the Japanese curry powder for it (I think).

I was not a fan of the strawberry popcorn though.

I also violently hate microwave popcorn. I used to have a nice stove popper specially for popcorn, with a thing that you turned on the handle to keep it from getting burned. Usually did organic popcorn from the local co-op and peanut or corn oil. My favorite topping is melted butter + parmesan cheese + salt and pepper, but that's usually just for special occasions. In general, I just do salt.

My favorite popcorn was from this gourmet popcorn shop in a random neighborhood in Orlando. They had all kinds of off flavors, but my favorite was the Cinnamon. It wasn't sweet & it wasn't caramelized sugar. It was just deliciously spicy. They also had a BBQ & Blue Cheese popcorn that was to die for.

I love popcorn best when it's air popped. With just a little bit of salt. Or Kettle Corn at a fair.

But I think most microwave popcorn AND movie theater popcorn tastes & smells like old gym socks.

Lol - only ever sweet popcorn and only ever microwaved, which is dangerous enough!!

Luckily it isn't native to this continent...

We air-pop organic kernels from the co-op, and then just do butter/oil and sea salt. I've used chili powder before, and it's pretty good.

I do love kettle corn, but I only get once a year at the fair. The rest of the time I prefer salty popcorn.

From a pot on the stove, only! Usually popped in canola oil. And sprinkled with cajun seasoning (if none around, some salt and Tapatio hot sauce).

It's bizarre to me that some people think popcorn only comes from a microwave (ick!) or from an air popper. My in-laws were amazed when I made stove-popped popcorn for them - they thought it would be saturated in oil.

I pop plain popcorn in the microwave, none of that store bought stuff with grease and the fake flavors. A quarter cup in a brown paper bag works best. I find it's not quite as fluffy as air popped, but it's hot and tasty and fast, since my air popper broke. I've used a glass bowl covered with a towel, but the bowl gets hot enough to melt plastic, which keeps the popcorn hot longer, but it's kind of dangerous to handle!

I like salt and pepper, or adobo seasoning. Or sometimes if I want something sweet I throw in chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, dried cranberries, and a dash of salt. Or plain, I like it plain, too.

Popcorn with salt still shocks me. I couldn't believe people would actually eat it that way! The first time I had it was in a wee student Cocktail bar, where it came complimentary with your drink - and for some reason, with a really sweet cocktail it actually works!

But I'd never buy salty popcorn in other situations and I'd never make salty popcorn myself. I used to have a popcorn maker when I was a teenager and it was really cool - I'm thinking of buying one again, just cause I prefer them to the saucepan method.

Wow, it's really Popcorn Day? I must be psychic! Before lunch I was looking at the official Wise site, trying to figure out if I could order their popcorn online (seems like it's only sold on the east coast). I love popcorn so much, it's one of my top three foods!

Fake movie theater "butter" for me, please. And tons of salt. Mmmm. And agreed on sugar on popcorn: Ugh! Blech!

The best kind I've ever had is really good kettle corn that's a little salty and a little sweet--drizzled with chocolate. But I think my favorite is a little butter and a little really good extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, pepper, and freshly grated parmigiano.

I remember first trying sweet popcorn in London and... liking it. My favorite, favorite would be caramel popcorn (or butterscotch). I do prefer the sweet, although I'm fine with microwave popcorn if someone makes it (I rarely, rarely make it).

I will say working at the movie theatre for 6+ years kind of turned me off of movie popcorn. :-P THE SMELL GOES HOME WITH YOU FOREVER.

I like air popped, with browned butter and a bit of very finely chopped rosemary, a sprinkle of crunchy sea salt, and tossed with a bit of lemon zest.
