In the final Sweet Charity auction, I won [profile] cho_malfoy's phenomenal writing skillz, and requested something April Fool-ish and pranky featuring Sam & Dean, and oh, she gave me something adorable and bro-tastic and full of perfect pranks and the perfect mix of angst and silliness. I love it, and you must read it!

And I finally managed to finish my [profile] livelongnmarry fic for the wonderfully patient [personal profile] yourlibrarian!

Title: Tall Cool One

Song by: Robert Plant

Rating: PG-13

Ships: Sam/Various Women, subtextual Sam/Dean

Spoilers through 4.22

Summary: Sammy Winchester strolls. He jumps. He's hot and he's a tease. He's a tall cool one, and he's built to please.

How to Watch: Imeem isn't embedding anymore, and YouTube hates my audio track, but you can watch it here or download it from megaupload in high res or low-res versions.

I also saw the new Rebecca Rubin doll from American Girl and I am considering it for Catie, because I like the idea of her having a Jewish doll, but Rebeccca's story sounds very similar to Ella in the All Of A Kind Family series, so I am not sure about the books. But how can I choose between Rebecca and my clone-doll Chrissa? Does the Doll of the Year for this year stay on the shelves through December?

[Poll #1375423]

There's only about eleven hours left for Sweet Charity - and it's the last Sweet Charity ever, so if you want to win a Sweet Tart, get your bids in! My two vids are going for about 14 pounds each - one is crack, one is whatever you want. Bid, bid, bid! It all helps RAINN!

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] growyourwings reminded us that Jared and Jensen are pretty especially when they look at each other.

Also, Heroes last night was Petrellirificly )

1. Sweet Charity! I am putting myself up for auction again - and like last winter, I am offering two vids:

A. There's crack up for auction! Lovely, silly, goofy, weird crack! You might want a character study in the form of song, or your favorite 80s pop hit or 90s band (US or UK) matched up with your favorite show. Or if you prefer something set to that Schoolhouse Rock song you can't get out of your head...

NOTE: If you choose Watchmen, the vid will be done 4-6 weeks after the DVD release.

B. There's a song that's been bouncing around your brain for a day, a week, a month or years - and it reminds you so perfectly of a certain show or film - your favorite character, or a particular pairing.
You can give me a few songs, a particular character or three, and a hint of what you like - or you can give me extensive specific directions and I'll play with that. Please have 2-5 songs in mind, though. Crossovers of any of the below-listed fandoms are possible, and if you have a specific request about a fandom I haven't listed, feel free to email me or comment on my LJ. My past vids are at [livejournal.com profile] pear_vodka.
NOTE: If you choose Watchmen, your vid will be done 4-6 weeks after the DVD release.

Fandoms for both vids are:

Chuck, Doctor Who (new), Friends, Harry Potter, Heroes, Iron Man (movie), Leverage, Merlin, Ocean's 11/12/13, Supernatural, The Lord of the Rings, Torchwood, Watchmen (movie)

My prior Sweet Charity vids are:
Always Keep an Edge on Your Knife (Supernatural for [livejournal.com profile] la_perkins)
The Fellowship / Cannot Cope, Off to Unpack Adjectives (LOTR for [livejournal.com profile] eldritchhobbit
Welcome to the Black Parade, Dean Winchester for [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre
And the Hero Is Me for [livejournal.com profile] seimaisin

2. Eyecon was fun - fellow fangirls were fantastic as always, an all the guests were excellent as always. Misha's last minute cancellation coupled with Jared's cancellation were annoying - but for my part, they would have been less annoying had there been more guests on the agenda in the first place. But frankly, I would go to these things for fangirls and a Jason Manns concert, so I had a terrific (and slightly tipsy) time. I don't know what will happen insofar as future eyecons - and from what I've heard about CreationCons, these are so much more mellow even when there are a lot of guests, so I hope there can be more - but I will not plan to purchase another platinum ticket without a larger slate of guests.

I love cons that are fan-centric, regardless of whether there are cast/crew members among the presenters. It was terrific having panels at Eyecon, and all the panelists and organizer [livejournal.com profile] erinrua deserve so much credit because it kept things hopping. There were still lulls between the Q&A sessions and photo op moments, but the panels filled a lot of that time, and the conversations that grew from them were terrific. I wish I could get to wincon this year - and if a miracle happens I will definitely do it! But there are two non-stops per day from South Florida to Denver, and they both arrive in the evening. Also considering the November chicago con if anyone knows someone selling a gold package & photo ops.

2b. Thanks to everyone who suggested and donated vids for the vidshow! Two vids were left off the dvd we showed - one because the file kept pixilating, and one because I missed an email (I AM SO SO SORRY!) so I will be posting a complete list of all the vids shown when I get home tonight - probably after Heroes, which I am utterly unspoiled for.

3. Coming tomorrow, for [livejournal.com profile] azkatraz, a t-shirt design contest! And if any of you are experienced with InDesign and are interested in helping create the Azkatraz program, even if you aren't coming to the con, please let me know! Comment or email info @hp2009.org

4. Is there going to be another SPN Gleeweek in the lead-up to the finale? Last year's was such fun...

Less than two hours left until bidding is closed!
heidi: (Still the Prettiest)

PSA If you bid on something in Sweet Charity, and you've been out-bid, the notification emails were not working properly, so please check on what you bid on to see if you're still in the lead
heidi: (Apple)
Happy New Year to all who celebrate it! And even if you don't, today is a terrific day to taste some apples dipped in honey for Rosh Hashana.

I'm back in the office editing closing docs for the deal that I had to rush back from eyecon to, er, deal with, and it's not fun, but while things are printing, I managed to upload a few photos from eyecon )

Also, check out the auction that just started at Sweet Charity! All proceeds go to Invisible Children. I have a vid up for auction this time, and if you win you can choose from SPN, Heroes, Doctor Who (new), Torchwood, Chuck, and LOTR. I love doing auction-commissioned vids because it's a completely different way to think about the process, so please, bid on me (and the other fantastic fancreators who're generously donating of their time and talent)!

[livejournal.com profile] catharsis_o_s created a pair of wonderful - spoilery for DW 4.12! - icons for me - you can find them here.

AND! AND! AND!!!!!!!!!

The Sabrina-inspired J2 fic I requested from [livejournal.com profile] balefully is now up! I'm only in the middle of part one now, but it's so fantastic I had to rec it because it's just perfect. Balefully's summary behind the cut )

And as I wait for DW to finish and get online, I'm watching the kids play the wii, and realised that what I really want is a DW game for the wii. My dream game would let you be any Doctor or Companion or Bad Guy - if you're a Doctor, you can choose any companion you want - and it would have every location and character from the old and new series - or at least, every major one - and your wii-mote's nunchuck would be a sonic screwdriver and the easter egg would be the SNOG option.

Title:
Badlands (Live Every Day)

Song by:
Bruce Springsteen & the E. Street Band (version from Live 1975 - 1986)

Fandom:
Supernatural

Rating:
PG-13

Summary:
You've got to live every day; let the broken hearts stand as the price you've got to pay.

This vid was created for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_gleeweek Spring, 2008 "S3 Finale Intro" challenge - when [livejournal.com profile] tvm asked for thoughts about challenges and stuff for Gleeweek, I had just finished doing a fake-intro-song-for-the-Season-Three-finale (on a prompt from [livejournal.com profile] missyjack and [livejournal.com profile] cathybites) to the Shrek II version of "La Vida Loca", and I thought it would be terrific to see other vidders' takes on the season-finale-intro.

This song was suggested by [livejournal.com profile] musesfool, who knows all things Springsteen, and I chose it as my Gleeweek entry because I wanted to use the lines "It ain't no sin to be glad you're alive..." and "...let the broken hearts stand..." and so there you have it!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] deirdre_c, [livejournal.com profile] cedarlibrarian and [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe for beta-comments, and so many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tvm and [livejournal.com profile] estrella30 for coordinating the wonderfulness that is Gleeweek (or, er, month, as the case may be).

And tomorrow...

SHOW!

Watch the video here on YouTube or embedded at the Gleeweek comm, or download it from Megaupload.

In other fannish things:
1. [livejournal.com profile] kellifer_fic's fic that I won in Sweet Charity is live and accessible - check it out for some adorable Sam Winchester/Jess Mariano crossover sweetness. PG-13, lovely, sweet and so perfectly in-character for both of the boys!

2. [livejournal.com profile] spn_eyecon, EyeConFla, etc - it all means that the weekend of September 26-28, I will be back in Orlando for what I am sure will be another fantastic fannish experience! Who's coming?

3. I have four vids to finish between now and when I head out of town next week. Meep!

Sweet Charity

This season, the charity supported is RAINN, who have long provided support to survivors of rape and incest.

Get creative and get charitable - and if you're not able to be a Ho this go-round, please consider bidding on one of the lovely artistes whose wares will be available starting in just under a day.
heidi: (popcorn)
Grab some popcorn and download this video by [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe, which she made for me after I won her in the Sweet Charity auction for RAINN earlier this spring.
It's a Supernatural video (including clips from both seasons - pilot through season finale) set to the Finn Brothers' Won't Give In, and it's astoundingly amazing. It's just such a *brothers* video and tells their story in concert with the song so beautifully - I cried the first time I saw it.

Also, I got a wonderful giftfic in the [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen fic exchange this week! Anon Author wrote Things That Go Boom, which features sparkler-fighting, some perfectly crafted angst (oh, boys!), a bit of hunting, a fanclub of kids and an amazing ending.

And yeah, Stephen King made me cry. (No HP spoilers, just King theorizing a bit.)
