1. There's going to be a new auction for Firefly/Serenity fans on LisaWalks soon-ish!

2. I am up for sale in Sweet Charity! I have two vids on offer - one specifically crack, and one that's broader - anything in Heroes, Supernatural, Twin Peaks, Chuck, Merlin, Doctor Who (new), Torchwood, Leverage, LOTR or Watchmen (although a Watchmen request won't be done until a month after the DVD comes out). My most recent Sweet Charity vid was for [livejournal.com profile] la_perkins - it's a somewhat cracktastic gen SPN vid set to an adorably hilarious song from the Corb Lund Band - Always Keep an Edge on Your Knife - and all my Sweet Charity vids are here.

3. [livejournal.com profile] ignipes was doing Shag, Cliff or Marry, and I was curious who she'd give me, so I played.

The following presumes that I am not, nor have I ever been, married.

Ianto Jones, Peter Petrelli, James Potter

My first reaction is to cliff James Potter, because he's dead anyway, but shagging or marrying him would get me proximity to Remus and Sirius and there are worse fates than watching the two of them snog or be angsty about each other.

And I don't want to marry Ianto because he's a workaholic who's a little too devoted to his boss, and getting in the middle of that could be messy. Plus, I don't actually like the smell or taste of coffee.

I definitely don't want to marry Peter Petrelli because it would be far too weird for him to marry a girl who has the same name as his brother's (ex-)wife and have you seen the drama=angst in that family? Almost as potentially deadly as being married to James Potter.

Would like to shag him, though.

So I'd count on my sensibilities to convince James not to trust Pettigrew as the Secret Keeper, and marry James Potter, after shagging Peter Petrelli, and poor Ianto Jones would be cliffed, but I would hope for his sake that there's a TARDIS just below the drop-off to catch him because I don't actually want him to end up painfully dead.

If you want me to give you a set of three to Shag, Cliff or Marry, please comment!

[livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive: High School
1. Would you return to high school life for a week? Why or why not? For a week? Sure. Ideally, the week that I spent traveling around England during the last semester of high school - or the photo class trip to New York that I had the week before that.

Average, every day high school? Depends on the reason why.

2. Who were/are you in high school? Not around very much. I worked for two different tv stations from my sophmore year on, and had permission to leave campus at 2PM most days, so I didn't do many extra-curriculars, and I didn't do any sports. Any chance I had for a normal high school experience was eviscerated when I broke my leg two weeks before classes started for my junior year, making it impossible for me to get around campus easily, stay after for clubs, manage the swim team, or even get a ride to school with friends, as I was casted up to my hip.

3. What was/is your favorite high school hangout? What did/do you do there? Nothing in particular for my first three years, but senior year there was a little food court with excellent chineese and sushi that we went to a lot. My friend Chris and I ended up being extras when they filmed a Miami Vice episode there halfway into our senior year.

4. What were/are your favorite three songs in high school? Something So Strong (Crowded House), Cross My Heart (Everything But the Girl) and Breakout (Swing Out Sister).

5. What was the craziest thing you did in high school? I was the one who brought a bottle of champagne to the parties, and handed it around rather than drinking from it myself. I hated beer - still do.

[livejournal.com profile] fannish5: Name the 5 most memorable tv/movie soundtracks.
1. Reality Bites. I bought it for Crowded House's Locked Out, and I kept it for Lisa Loeb's STAY. Still one of my favorite soundtracks ever, and I still listen to it a lot.
2. Moulin Rouge. I love the Elephant Love Medley! I love how Baz managed to merge so many different things together - it was the perfect pastiche.
3. Mamma Mia - my kids love for me to play it, especially (for no explicable reason) Super Trouper and Honey Honey. There is no way to get it out of my head.
4. Hairspray! Loved the play, love the movie. Love the songs - and my eldest does a wonderful version of It Takes Two.
5. Beauty and the Beast. I had to get some Disney in here and while I probably love the actual songs in Lilo & Stitch and Enchanted as much to listen to, I have to include Beauty & the Beast because what could be better than songs about reading. "Isn't this amazing? It's my favorite part because - you'll see...."

I haven't seen any humor on my flist about the Republican budget Collection of Charts That Are Mostly A Series of Circles and Lines And No Numbers (which some Republicans in Congress who'd been working on an actual budget concept are somewhat nonplussed about) - but I have seen some on political blogs like DKos.

The brilliant Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight shared this )

Gacked from a diary at dailykos:

1. He's tired. This campaign is the first time he's ever worked more 20 hours a week in his entire life.

2. He's got mortgage trouble. Four of his nine houses are upside down with Washington Mutual.

3. He wants to insert some earmarks into bailout legislation.

4. His campaign team just lost their money jobs at Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Bear Stearns, and Lehman Brothers. They need to find other jobs right away.

5. Not ready to debate. Can't think of effective lies for at least a third of the anticipated questions.

6. Losing interest in election. If he can't win, what fun is it?

7. Cindy is insanely jealous. Wants to know why he keeps playing with his wedding ring anytime he is around or talks about Sarah.

8. Running away with Sarah. It's true love.

9. FBI readying RICO indictments against McCain campaign machine.

10. Sarah just fired him.

What do I really think? I think his decision to announce it while Obama was waiting for the two of them to announce it together is really tacky - and that's the timeline described by people unaffiliated with either campaign. I think suspending campaigning makes some sense - don't release any new ads, change the time of the debate to make it an hour or two later - or earlier! - if they're needed in DC, etc. It's a major Hail Mary pass, and everyone on all sides knows it - it's the move of a desperate man who can't multitask.

Presidents need to be able to multitask.

ETA: They want to delay this debate until October 2, and delay the VP debate which was supposed to be that night.

Who's betting they want to cancel the VP debate entirely, and this is how they plan to manipulate that?

I CALL SHENANIGANS!
ETA2 - the jokes are coming fast and furious about the McCain campaign & the Treasury Bailout today. [livejournal.com profile] yeswes found this Very Important Email from Nigerian royalty from Paulson. Anyone else have anything that's soda-through-the-nose funny?

Can't wait to see lots of you tomorrow! And even more the day after that! Am picking [livejournal.com profile] emerald_angel9 up at the airport down here at 230ish, then getting [livejournal.com profile] gwendolyngrace at 630ish in Orlando, then swinging by the hotel for [livejournal.com profile] ze_pink_lady and then we'll be at the bar for OMGSHOW sometime after that.

SQUEE!

ETA PS: If you have a chance before Ep 2, check out the vid I did for 4.01 - and please leave me your cellphone number in my flocked post. My cell number is there if anyone needs it - texting will probably be the best way to reach me during eyecon.

These are sort of a collection of thoughts I had while watching Show, combined with things that occured to me while I was re-watching while vidding today, and things that occured to me while reading other LJs.

It's all about SPN. )

And a poll about 3.16 )

In non-SPN content, [livejournal.com profile] bestweekever_tv has a look at extended LP cover art. See what the real covers of Oasis, Nirvana and Simon & Garfunkle albums looked like before they were trimmed! (Dark Side of the Moon is my favorite, and a must for Star Wars fans.)

I know there's been an influx of vid posting here recently - but it's completely eaten my brain the way it did back in college when I worked in the school tv station and edited vids for things like Spring Fling and various college performing arts groups on 3/4 inch tape and made credits on an Amiga.

And you know what happens when something eats your brain?

It turns into crack.

Over the weekend, [livejournal.com profile] missyjack posted:
Warning - Season Three Finale Spoiler:

Unnamed sources close to Eric Kripke have revealed that the opening song montage finale for the truncated Season Three will not feature "Carry On Wayward Son", as in the previous two seasons. Instead the montage will be set to "Livin' la Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin.

It was tagged "this is a joke" (ALAS!) and [livejournal.com profile] cathybites wondered:
Is it wrong that I really really REALLY kind of want that?

I asked if that was a vid request, Cathy said yes, especially for the Shrek version, Missy concurred and [livejournal.com profile] juice817 gave me the song, which I unfortunately did not already own.

And I put together this. Total crack, and a counterpoint for my recent angstvidding.

Title: Livin' la Vida Loca!

Song Originally From: Shrek II

Fandom: Supernatural

Rating: PG-13 for blood and language

Summary: Not actually a leaked draft of the Supernatural Season Three finale's intro. Nope, definitely not!

Spoilers: Through Season 3, Episode 12 (Please do not spoil me for anything in unaired episodes! Thanks!)

Genre: Crack. SO MUCH CRACK. And lip-synching!

( + cracky crack from cracktopia! )

You can also download it from Megaupload in .wmv format or go directly to the YouTube page.

Approx 65 MB and just under four minutes long. Still crack!

[Poll #1137287]

ETA: And I have two fic recs (although I need to do a much longer recs post soon):
[livejournal.com profile] deirdre_c has 100 words of SPN in the best crossover ever
[livejournal.com profile] copperbadge has a Ianto-centric Torchwood fic

And there's an extension to the end of the month for [livejournal.com profile] abouttwoboys, whew.

Day? Made.

Oh, [livejournal.com profile] mahoni - you have totally made my day!

Peter Petrelli and Sam Winchester argue about who has the better big brother!

In Motivational Poster style! Using images from Gilmore Girls!

Brilliant.

I love the internet.
heidi: (Birthday)
[livejournal.com profile] bestweekever has a vaguely amusing chat transcript from The 16th Birthday Party for The World Wide Web here.

Man, I still can't believe that Yet Another Hierarchically Organized Oracle is calling himself YAHOO these days. He's totally rolling on his Segway.

Anyway, Happy Birthday, World Wide Web! I remember you when you were not even two! And we had to tab through gopherspace! And hang with Archie! And Veronica! And Project Guttenberg had only a few dozen books!

So, who remembers my first page with the blinky text when I was heidi8 @ cris.com? Zoners?
heidi: (Default)
Nope, no words. Am too busy laughing.

note: someone submitted quotes from this to FA's Quote Randomizer today. Hee!
