These are sort of a collection of thoughts I had while watching Show, combined with things that occured to me while I was re-watching while vidding today, and things that occured to me while reading other LJs.

1. I never expected Sam to save Dean. I hoped and dreamed for an Orpheus storyline and we may possibly possibly get it. Maybe that's why I wasn't as jittery beforehand as I was last year before 2.22?

kitsune13 has a groovy summary of lore involving Hermes who is occasionally personified as the Trickster, and his relation to the Orpheus myth.

Yum.

(Although I admit that it would have been lovely to see Lawyer!Sam in settlement negotiations!

2. I loved the dialogue about Family and Dean's plea to Sam to break the pattern. And Sam tried to deal with Lilith anyway. Sigh. What *is* he going to try next year?

3. I was under the impression that Lilith had been in Ruby since she broke out from the devil's trap, and in fact, that Lilith got her out. Or went into it and then got into Ruby and then broke the trap much like Meg did when she was in Sam in S2. And as Sam said in the begining of the ep, demons can travel fast. And we saw in 1.22 that demons can enter bodies without the black smoke thing - look at the fireman and the resident at the apartments - so maybe the black smoke is when they're hurrying?

4. The last fucking thing Dean saw before he died? Was Lilith about to kill Sam - and he couldn't so a damned thing about it. And he has no idea what happened to Sam - he has every reason to think she killed him in that moment. I don't know if Show *will* open like that in S4 but it could. And I hope there are fics incorporating it! Because Dean thinking it was all for naught because Sam's going to die too? Well, that's one explanation for the screaming.

Poor woobie.

5. Speaking of fics, are there any J2 fics with the boys singing in the car on the way to the set? Because there should be!

6. I am not worried about Dean's mangled body (and I note that the hellhounds didn't do much damage to that face) - if Demonic Magic can fix a severed spinal cord and blood loss (Sammy, 2007) then they can repair Dean's blood loss as well. Right?
