Hey, [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge - can you take the moustache off again for me?
heidi: (good side)
Hmmm. Maybe this means it's time to re-launch The Bad Place?

Also, am at skip=260 on LJ and only as far back as yesterday at 4 pm, which means I have another six hours back to read. Maybe I'll catch up today?

We've already sold over 110 tickets to [livejournal.com profile] poa_nyc! I've also called to enlarge our ticket block. Wow, this is going to be more amazing than we thought!

[Poll #286471]
Mer! I need to add both Hot Fun in the Summertime and Xanadu to the list of options. And a few people have suggested/seconded Girls Just Wanna Have Fun so let that be an option for consideration, too.

Someone, in the last 36 hours, did a meme where the theme was to take the first 20 or so (well, that's how many I'm using) songs on a randomized playlist and give a line from each song, so people can guess what the songs are from that.

Since I have a huge number of incredibly obscure 80s songs on my iPod, I've randomized 100 songs, but I'm only going to include one song from each artist, instead of trying to make y'all guess 10 different songs from Everything But the Girl.

So... name that tune? There are prizes! )

Answers will be posted on Friday. The first person who gets all 23 gets two months paid LJ time, and the first five to get 20 will each get (GASP!) a drabble - PG-rated or less - featuring the HP ship or character of their choice - or, if you're a non-HP person, I will read any chapter of The Eight for you via phone-post. :D

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] sbbo and [livejournal.com profile] aegeus tie for the win! And if both of them can explain how they've heard of Labour of Love (and I'll note that I should've used Vera Drives instead, wah) they get my perpetual admiration.

For the rest of y ou - feel free to still take the quiz - we're still waiting on a few prizewinners for the "getting 20" count. Even if you can't answer everything, answer what you can! I'm curious as to who knows what...

And I think I'll do this again in a week or so, and see if anyone can identify "I wore my fringe like Roger McGuin's. I wore it hoping to impress..."

From today's Salon Magazine regarding the Cheney!Bush session with the 9.11 panel:
The president did not mention, but we will remind everyone, that the White House historically has made the commission's work more difficult. Indeed, if it was up to the White House, the panel would not even exist. The White House opposed the creation of the 9/11 commission in the first place, and tried to cut its funding after it was created. It has been slow to produce documents from the Bush and Clinton White Houses. Bush tried in vain to speak only to the two co-commissioners, not the entire commission, and for only one hour. Condoleezza Rice initially refused to appear in public and under oath before the panel, and did so only after the White House struck a deal that the panel could not call any other White House officials to do the same.
