From today's Salon Magazine regarding the Cheney!Bush session with the 9.11 panel:
The president did not mention, but we will remind everyone, that the White House historically has made the commission's work more difficult. Indeed, if it was up to the White House, the panel would not even exist. The White House opposed the creation of the 9/11 commission in the first place, and tried to cut its funding after it was created. It has been slow to produce documents from the Bush and Clinton White Houses. Bush tried in vain to speak only to the two co-commissioners, not the entire commission, and for only one hour. Condoleezza Rice initially refused to appear in public and under oath before the panel, and did so only after the White House struck a deal that the panel could not call any other White House officials to do the same.

Ah, yes. I'm listening to Bush on NPR right now, stuttering and prattling about the "productive" time he had with the commission ("I came away good about the session"). Seems he specified that he and Cheney not be separated during questioning. Cheney's the closest thing he has to a brain... which isn't saying much.

In other news, 10 more American soldiers and who knows how many non-combatants died in Iraq today.

As usual, The Onion is perilously close to the truth:

However, I do love your icon.

Seeing as how that commission has predictably degenerated into nothing more than a partisan blame-fest, he was absolutely right to oppose it. The whole thing is a sad, tax-money-wasting, joke.

Excellent points, all. One of the most frustrating things is the fact that the American public (most publics, come to think of it) has the memory of a fruit fly.

Argh.
