I guess they didn't get the memo. The villain's name in that particular movie was *whispers* Peter Pettigrew*

I saw that too. I honestly wondered if the people who created the nominations had bothered to either read the book or see the movie at all.

For my money, GWB from F9/11 would have made a better nominee for villain. Although I doubt the publishers of the mag would have been that bold.

Why not? It's a character in a work of fiction.

Sorry - you think Fahrenheit 9/11 was fiction?

Where have you been for the past four years?

Here. In the Republican party. In a conservative bent. On the other side of the coin.

And I think Michael Moore is a shameless self-promoter, who has used the genuine belief of others such as yourself for his own ends. I have no problem with him presenting such a work as an interpretation or a viewpoint; I have a vast problem with him presenting it as a documentary. I would have similar problems regardless of the subject matter.

Of course it's an interpetation and skewed to his viewpoint--but that doesn't make it not a documentary. All documentaries do that. If it's fiction, I think the person is asking, what facts was he making up in it?

Wonderfully phrased answer. Even if I don't necessarily agree with you, I have to applaud the snark factor.

...potential nominees... were compiled with the help of the culture-savvy (hehe) editors at Entertainment Weekly... of over 6,000 entertainment enthusiasts... which became the official nominees.

Who apparently just didn't get it?

They must have turned the movie off just after Sirius' menacing growl. Is it wrong that I want to vote for him, just to see something Harry-related win?

Then vote for the soundtrack! Or vote for it as favorite sequal?

I voted for Elle Driver as best villain and POA as best sequel. Um, and KB Vol. 2 was not a sequel... right?

*grins* Thanks!

Also, I don't think Kill Bill Vol.2 was a sequel, wasn't it part of the same movie, only the movie was chopped in half?

And PoA wasn't a sequel, either.

Perhaps in this case they're using "best villain" to mean "least villainous villain," or something like that. ;)

Yeah, you gotta wonder where their brains are. :: rolleyes ::

Sorry, I'm not an LJ person, just cruising journals...

anyway, I think it makes sense.

I mean, remember the first time you read the books? Most people thought Sirius was a villain, and for the vast majority of the movie-- up until the truth is revealed-- he's perceived as the villain, so the role functions the same way a villain's role does. Admittedly, he's not *in* much of the movie up till then, but , hey, nominating him for best villain insures you don't spoil it for the whole three people who haven't read and/or seen it yet.

But that's like saying Capt. Jack Sparrow is the villain in POTC - and he's not. And to say he's not isn't really a spoiler for anyone going into the film. It's not like they had a hero category where they could've put him otherwise - he's not a hero, really, either.

It's just puzzling - I'm glad they're giving him credit for having been amazing, but Remus is more a threat to Our Heroes than Sirius is, especially in the film.
