Going great. He's doing fine, I'm doing fine.

Heartbeat was about 140 (no miniultrasound today, though) and my AFP tests all came out negative, so we're great on that. My ever-changing due date is now on the 26th of May, so I'm going to start with doula-supervised natural induction methods around the 20th. No chemical induction, though - no *way*.

Have any of you who've gone through the birth experience used doulas? If so, how did that work for you?

I haven't put on any pounds this month, which worries me a little although the doctor said not to fret about it. I can't help it, I just am. Hopefully I'll put on a pound or 2 in the next month and can calm down then.

I've also been cleared for travel - we're off to LA on thursday through monday - and hopefully I'll be able to sneak to the Golden Globes... for some hobbit-stalking.

Wish me luck!

Yeah for healthy babies!

I didn't use a doula, but would have loved to. She could be a great help with relaxation, pain management and serve as an advocate for you with the hospital staff so that your husband could focus on you. Also, if you were trying for VBAC a doula would be lots of help.

With my first I labored at home a long time and it would have been nice to have someone there. (My husband went out to a business dinner, but that's another story. He was minimal help anyway. LOL.) I have a good friend who's a doula and I can't see that it would be anything but positive.

I agree about the chemical induction. That pitocin is some mean stuff.

Good Luck! Does this mean your husband will miss his reunion?
