Hey, penn people?

Did you see?

Drew Gilpin Faust’s expected election as the 28th President of Harvard College will spark a flurry of attention. Worldwide, headlines will herald Harvard’s first female leader in its 371-year history...

I was a history major at Penn, and I took an amazing History of the South course from her in my Freshman year - second semester. She was a terrific and dynamic professor and I can't wait to see what she does at Harvard.

Re the NOLA event in May, 2007 - I don't expect to be able to attend the event, because it's the same weekend as my 15th college reunion - I am a class officer, and have already committed to go, and really wouldn't miss it for the world, because I bleed red and blue and love Penn to the deepest depths of my being. I love my friends in fandom, too, but we get together multiple times each year, as we've already seen from the events of 2004, when people traveled hither and yon for the book release, the movie release, Accio and TWH - we'll go to the opening of an envelope as long as we can share hotel rooms, right? Whereas my class only gets together once every five years, and I need to see all the new babies and spouses this go-round! If I can swing it (ie if airfare is cheap and Aaron isn't doing depositions out of town) I'll try to make it for Wed/Thurs, but that's all I can even consider.

But I think FA may be doing something Very Interesting at it, and I hope everyone who does go has fun. Those of you in & around Philly, I'll see you that weekend, instead!

I refuse to take any test that lists Princeton as an option but leaves off Penn.
