Nuclear Bombs Mistakenly Flown Over US

A B-52 bomber was mistakenly armed with six nuclear warheads and flown for more than three hours across several states last week, prompting an Air Force investigation and the firing of one commander, Pentagon officials said Wednesday.

The plane was carrying Advanced Cruise Missiles from Minot Air Force Base, N.D, to Barksdale Air Force Base, La., on Aug. 30, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of a Defense Department policy not to confirm information on nuclear weapons.

The Air Combat Command has ordered a command-wide stand down on Sept. 14 to review procedures, officials said. They said there was minimal risk to crews and the public because of safety features designed into the munitions.

We are so bloody lucky this didn't happen back in 1986. Because there never would have been an investigation because it would have triggered WWIII and we would all be dead now!

For those who're wondering what the 45 extra minutes of content are on the Deluxe Heroes S1 dvd at Target - it's the q&a from the Paley, and "four miniature paintings".

Me? I'm getting the regular version....

Oh. They also have Friday Night Lights for 20 bucks through Sept. 1.

Adrian and Jack in lederhosen. And other photos from Germany. Adrian and Jack must've been smoking the bad crack that day. I just cannot look at those photos without laughing hysterically.

There's a an ad on Mtv News on their website for Fall Out Boy's concert tour that you have to sit through, here to get to see a story on MtvNews about Wizarding Rock - they talked to Alex of the Remus Lupins and the guys from Draco & the Malfoys and the girls from The Parselmouths at Phoenix Rising as well as the Switchblade Kittens (who some of you remember from Nimbus) - and about halfway through the story, one of the Parselmouth-girls mentions fanfic, and this image ) shows up on Mtv and Kim from SpinnersCast YMs Robert from SpellCast who YMs me and I go OMGOMGOMG and YM Cedar and I screencap it and make all of you look.

Wizarding Rock, fanfic and fandom, for the win!

I am printing it out and taking it when I go see Xanadu around the corner from Mtv next week and taking a picture of the printed-out page in front of the Mtv sign! Because I'm just that silly!

-- Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and injured a man during a hunting trip in Texas, The Associated Press reports.

I hope the guy is ok, but really, I shouldn't be laughing at this, should I?

The Daily Telegraph sent two reviewers to GoF, and the 14 year old writer who did one of the reviews liked it well enough, so that's not really what I'm just flaberghasted by today. here's the review by some 20something chick, which began:
I thought I knew what to expect. A couple of hours of child wizards casting spells, some japery involving flying broomsticks, a few owls and maybe some humorous interludes with a green elf. What I got was a two-and-a-half hour monster and death fest.

Now, with a first paragraph like that, do you think that woman has read the book? Or five? Or six?
[Poll #606777]
So then the rest of the review goes like this... )

I'll ask the question again, slightly differently this time:
[Poll #606778]
So, should this be used as a textbook example of How Not To Review?

* and yes, that was supposed to be BBQ in the last line of the second poll. Damn you, LJ, and your bar on editing polls!

ETA: You know, I think I found something the whole fandom can come together about. Elizabeth Day is galactically stupid!
