I was lucky enough to get to do a cover, some icons/ephemera and a vid/trailer for monsterfan's spn_j2_bigbang fic, Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Here's the summary:

After discovering Adam, Sam and Dean wonder if John Winchester fathered any other children. They soon find out he did: their half-sister Mary Sue. The boys set out to find her, but it's not a happy reunion. Mary Sue is convinced they're a closeted gay couple and is hell-bent on helping them come out. She and her best friend even write about them in series of controversial blog posts. Meanwhile, her college campus is besieged with murders that Sam remembers reading on the Supernatural fan website, which he's developed a strange addiction to, and something weird is going on between Sam and Dean, leading Dean to conclude they've been trapped in an alternate universe where slash fan fiction is coming true.

I had such an amazing time working with monsterfan on the art and vid I did for her fantastic fic. And I can't believe I'm done with all my BigBang responsibilities so early and now all I have to do is sit back and enjoy the other stories as they come in!

Inspired by (and created for) "One Safe Place" by delanach as part of the 2010 spn_j2_bigbang; the story is an AU for SPN post-Season Four's "Sex and Violence".

Fic Summary: After their encounter with the siren, after truths came out that neither Sam nor Dean ever wanted to admit to, Dean makes a decision that has far reaching consequences. Chuck wakes up that same morning to a pile of fractured rewrites in his head and his day goes rapidly downhill from there. He has to come to terms with the fact that his characters are real, and that he might hold the key to saving the world. All he has to do is piece together the future.

My first spn_j2_bigbang vid for 2009 is now up! The fic is "This Temporary Life" by finn21, and it's an adorable J2 AU that parallels "How I Met Your Mother" - you can read the fic here and check out the vid here!

There is something very nifty and karmic about picking the Star Wars-inspired spn_j2_bigbang prompt on 5/4 since, of course, there's two nifty things about today's date:
1. Add the month and day to get the year; and
2. MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!

Star Wars Weekends are coming up at Disney, and the new posters are out, and adorable. Testing the LJ-cut and how it works when I crosspost with something unspoilery - ( This one is my favorite! )

Hurrah, it worked!

Glancing at my LJ, I have really been AFK apart from twittering for the last week.

One reason was because I was setting things up over at spn_summergen, which morgan32 and I will be running this summer as ignipes and mahoni have stepped down. Go sign up this week to write a wonderful gen gift-fic - they're not going to be posted until August, so you'll have a lot of time!

A second reason involved working with gwendolyngrace on finishing many of the menu drafts for azkatraz and they are going to be delicious! Lots of the team will be in San Fran for a site visit this weekend and we should be able to start posting menu information after that. We've already posted a list of all accepted programming sessions (except for the ones where we haven't heard back from the presenters yet so if you're one of them please get in touch with us asap!).

We're also almost out of space for participant/sellers at the Craft Faire on Saturday afternoon, so sign up asap if you're interested in that.

Third reason is that I was in Chicago last week with my Eldest Son at the premiere for the Harry Potter exhibit at the amazing Chicago Museum of Science & Industry. Even if you don't normally read twitters posted to LJ, if you want some info about what's at the exhibit, check out my tweets here. And Harry will be doing a report on the museum for an upcoming episode of SpellCast, too! If you have any chance to get to Chicago this summer, make sure you check out the exhibit, even if you're not a die-hard Potter fan. Anyone who's enjoyed the films will definitely love this.

Fourth is because I've been worried about Chuck. No, that's not really a reason, but I am worried about Chuck being renewed - any news yet on that? I did see that Bryce will have his own show on USA next season....

I was lucky and thrilled to get veronamay's fic "Better Elsewhere" in this year's spn_j2_bigbang and it was an unbelievable experience to get to create things for her wonderful story!
