1. Doctor Who

My kids often watch the vids I make - and sometimes have requests. Jon now wants me to do an entire vid of nothing but spinning Daleks and K-9, and he actually made a Dalek out of ordinary kitchen materials, sort of. )

He also has taken to spinning in circles and saying "Help me! Help me!" in a robotic sort of voice. I really ought to film him doing it.

If I'm not careful, he'll want to be a Dalek for Halloween. But he does have Ecclestone-esque ears, so maybe I can talk him into going as Nine.

2. Doctor Crane

Spoilers for Dark Knight )

There will be at least one more, won't there?

3. Doctor Horrible

I woke up in the middle of the night on Saturday morning and wondered if it was up, and it was right there in my iTunes download-list, so I downloaded it, plugged in the earphones, and fifteen minutes later I was )

Not cutting the next part because I don't think the fact that Penny wears clothing in Act III is a spoiler.

Weirdly enough, I actually own the dress that Penny wears in Act III - I got it at Anthropologie back in March to possibly wear to the EyeCon banquet (although I didn't) and I am now considering getting a beige sweater to wear over it and wearing it on Friday to the comic con session on Doctor Horrible. I've never cosplayed before, and this is probably not exactly that, but, should I? Or would it be weird/silly/a bad decision?

Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] deirdre_c, as I was doing before - anyone want a sneak preview of the vid I did for her birthday? ;)

[livejournal.com profile] marag wrote Jack Harkness/Bruce Wayne for the Captain Jack Sexes Everyone In Every Fandom Ever challenge. You can read it here, and squee.

I've been trying since last night to come up with words for how amazing I thought Batman Begins was, and all I keep coming back to is "I love Gary Oldman, I love Christian Bale, I love Michael Caine, I love Liam Neeson, I love Morgan Freeman, I love love love whoever it was that played Crane and I don't quite get why Katie Holmes was doing a Drew Barrymore impersonation but perhaps it's because it would've been weird, continuity-wise, for Drew to actually have played that part because she was Sugar in Movie #3, which, coincidentally, also starred Nicolle Kidman, but the meta of that was a little too much for me.

I've seen a lot of Gary Oldman movies while up in the wee hours of the night with Cate - Sid & Nancy, Prick Up Your Ears, Dracula, Immortal Beloved - even Fifth Element, which I have always enjoyed, and seeing him in a role where he's just a normal, good guy, just reminds me of how damned good he is. And, of course, how woeful I am going to be trying to sit through OotP. Weirdly enough, I'm not really looking forward to GoF with any all-consuming passion, the way I was about PoA. But even though I didn't love OotP as a book as much as PoA or even GoF, I really think that it has tremendous potential as a film, if they don't screw it up.

And, o la, only there was a sequal to Batman which also incorporated Smallville and an Evil Lex because it's so clear to me now that Bruce is Clark's Replacement!Lex.

Seriously, I think that Christian merits consideration for Best Actor - why is it that every year, there's another film which takes comic book mythos and makes it more than what we are seemingly supposed to consider "just a comic book film." This year, it's BB. Last year, Spiderman 2. The year before that, X-Men 2.

Hopefully, next summer, it'll continue with X-Men 3, which is being directed by my high school-mate Brett Ratner, who is thankfully a bit of a comic book geek, and should give it the right feeling. I'm not a huge fan of Brett's Rush Hour or Bad Boys work, but I think this just might work well. Plus, he's a really nice guy, so I like it when he does well...

Now, to search for Batman icons!
