Amazon has a poll to determine the top video clip from Sesame Street as it approaches its 40th anniversary.

I voted for The #12 Rollercoaster. Which one is your favorite?

Since SPN was mentioned on the cover of Entertainment Weekly this week, and is the subject of a four-page article, Ken Tucker recommends five six episodes to catch up and get into the series if you haven't watched any yet. Read his list here. Would you have included anything else? Did he include something you find unnecessary? I probably would have included Jus In Belo instead of Bad Day at Black Rock, but otherwise I agree with the list.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations on getting a four year old to sit for ten minutes for her nebulizer, which she hates? I've tried putting on movies that she wants, and it doesn't really help...

I see that the world is led by a small group of really dorky men. Just as I always suspected!

YES! And after the photo op and the official meeting they all went to play D&D in some out of the way conference room.

Due if they play D&D that would make them all way cooler ini my book. Course I'm a geek... And Yes I play D&D... hell I play a lot of different RPGs... even LARP.... And I'm one of the few Female Game masters I know.... I know a lot of gamer girls tho... just not many that actually run games... more power to the girl gamer.

We struggled with the nebulizer too--especially at first--but had some success with singing, rocking, movies, and funny fish mask versions of the standard masks (we'd let the kidlet play with them during off times, so that it wasn't so frightening. Same with his nebulizer, so that he could get used to the noise.) We ended up moving to an MDI w/spacer when he was about two though, which pretty much put an end to all battles. If the ped/pulmo will go for it, that'd be my top suggestion.

If you're stuck with a nebulizer, I've heard great things about the Omron (http://www.portablenebs.com/) from several people. It's whisper quiet, which makes it much more bearable for a lot of kids. And although it's an ultrasonic model, it can deliver Pulmicort, which is pretty much a must.

For the nebulizer, I agree with the comment above--try singing and music. Encourage her to sing silly songs as loud as she can, thus ensuring that she takes nice deep breaths like she needs to to get the meds to her lungs.

As for the Sesame Street, clip, they didn't have my favorite listed! The aliens!

Have you thought about reading with her? Let her choose 3 of her favorite books and sit and read with her. That way she's engaged and it's mom/daughter time :)

How noisy is the nebuliser? From my experience they're really noisy and kinda scary. I can understand how one might not want to sit still for 10 minutes. Is there something that she particularly doesn't like about it, or is it just a general "I don't want to sit down quietly for 10 minutes!" thing?

If she's 4 she might be able to use a spacer & metered dose inhaler as someone else mentioned... apparently there's no real benefit of nebs over a spacer & MDI (unless of course they're too sick to breathe in and out through the spacer/the spacer isn't being used properly), so check with your doc to see.

I think the Bad Day at Black Rock is a good suggestion considering the next new episode. Cause Bad Day at Black Rock shows the secrets John used to keep. It would help to get people ready for the new episode coming up. Actually that is kind of almost a perfect list for it... with the exception that you really also need the pilot IMO reguardless cause it gives more backstory. So I would have made it a 7 episode list.

As far as four year olds and nebulizers, I had to come up with some tricks for my kids. One was the game where you put your hands out, palms up and she lays her hands on yours. You then have to be sneaky-ninja-fast to tap the back of her hands before she pulls away. Generally, I would act slow, and then when we reversed the kids would always be faster and win. It had the added bonus of making them laugh when they were faster than me, which helps them breathe in more of the mist; my kids were always kind of fighting against it. :D

I just read your previous post, and I'm so sorry that she had an attack. Hearing a child having an attack is the scariest thing in the world. We have since discovered that my son had allergic type asthma and once we removed his triggers, he's been well. I know we just met, but {{hugs}} anyway. :D
