...suitcase of memories, time after...

I was clearing off an old desktop computer - the one I used from 2002 through 2006 - and I found something I didn't realise I still had.

One of the first trailers for Harry Potter & the Philosopher's Stone, circa Spring, 2001. It was so early, we still didn't have a release date (it ended up coming out in November, 2001) and it was our first glimpse into WB's version of the wizarding world.

I put it up on YouTube yesterday for archival purposes, and

Wow, I don't think I realised at the time, but we never heard Daniel speak. I remember in the run-up to the movie's release there was this Katie Couric Behind the Scenes special that I refused to watch - I didn't want to be spoiled for the movie's actual content.

This week marks my 6th year at [livejournal.com profile] heidi8, and it's also the 13th anniversary of the opening of the FriendsZone, which was my first real non-music fandom experience, and wow, that's more than a third of my life with Friendsz and about a sixth of my life on LJ.

Damned long time. And this little 100-second clip was a tiny part of it in terms of minutes and seconds, and such an immense part of it in terms of import and impact.

Meep. Wow, what ickle things they were then. How grown-up we all are now.

so they can do more about the Epilogue Generation and get some kid-quidditch in in that way?

I suspect the split is because they intend to give the camping scenes the four full hours they merit.

What the last book needed was more camping! Hollywood means to deliver.

Trudge. Trudge. Trudge.

I have no camping-esque icons. There is probably a reason for that.

Toward making room for more camping, I suggest a logical deletion: The scene at the end with Dumbledore's portrait.

If they actually show the portrait, it will be blindingly obvious to the audience that Harry should have begun by stealing that... even more than it was in the book.
