heidi: (Booze!)
[personal profile] heidi
I've never done one of these before - probably because I've never created this many fanworks in all the time I've been on LJ. I did most of my fanfic writing back in 2000 and the firt half of 2001, and then did maybe an additional 10,000 words in the five years that followed. This year, though, I discovered a love for drabbling post-episode of shows I loved, and a bit of an obsession with vidding, so I finally can do

My favorite fanwork this year (of my own):
Cake or Death, my Ava-centric post-2.21 Supernatural fic. There are LUSH bombes involved, and I wrote it in a stream of consciousness right after the episode ended and I couldn't bear to think about the final scene of the ep, so I wrote this instead.

My best fanwork this year:
A Life Between Us is, I think, the best fic I wrote this year; it was for [livejournal.com profile] eloise_bright in trhe [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen fic exchange. Dean de-ages and the boys get an idea.
Almost Like a Prophecy is, I think, the best vid I made this year - it's a Doctor/Jack vid set to The Wizard & I, as sung by John Barrowman. The bit that matches to the "almost like a prophecy" portion of the lyrics was a challenge to edit, but I think it really meshes the song and the series.

Fanwork most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Have Faith, which I uploaded the day after the last episode of Heroes aired. It's been viewed fewer times than any of my other vids, and I'm not sure why. Bad timing, perhaps.

Most fun fanwork:
Say My Name, my first venture into pure crack. It's Doctor/Master and there's only two ways to vid them - crack and uberangst. Well, three, but the third involves pr0n and I am not capable of vidding that.

Most sexy fanwork:
Laid, the J2 (Jared Padalecki/Jensen Ackles) vid I did for [livejournal.com profile] titti for [livejournal.com profile] spn_holidays.

Fanwork with the single sexiest moment:
Charm Attack! Nathan Petrelli, shirtless. 'Nuf said.

Fanwork with single sweetest moment:
Imagining the Air - Nathan and Peter Petrelli at a park circa 1984. Woobies.

Most unintentionally telling fanwork:
I, like most of you, am not sure how to answer this one. I think everything I've done this year tells something about me. Maybe...

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" fanwork :
I've never written anything so much as R-rated, so it wasn't hard for me to push my boundaries this year. So it's probably Fifteen Minutes and the Clock is Slow, my first foray into something Petrellicestesque, although it really wasn't, as it's just Isaac seeing what he wants to see in what he's drawing. In other words, it's about as Petrelliesty as the show itself. Lalala.

Fanwork that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Mobius, which is the only HP fic I've written since DH came out. It was my first and as it turned out, my only chance so far to synthesize the extra bits we got from Regulus's story into my thoughts on the Potterverse. Actually, this is probably my most under-appreciated story, but what do you expect when the ship in question has maybe three members (although IMHO it should have more more more!)

Biggest disappointment:
Clear Inside My Head - Nathan and Claire early in Heroes S2. I wanted to revisit this after the last episode, and I don't think I ever will because of the changes made by TPTB to the show's plot.

Biggest Surprise:
Imaging the Air. It really touched a chord in people, and it came to me completely out of the blue in the first place. It makes me happy when I reread it. I love the Petrellis so much, I really do.

Hardest fanwork to create:
Xanadean (Xanadu/SPN crossover). It turned out nothing like what I wanted it to be. Meh.

Easiest fanwork to create:
Other than my post-show drabbles, probably Have Faith! I did the whole thing in about six hours after dreaming it all night and in between reading people's comments about the end of the last episode of Heroes. Have faith! Please!

This year's theme and the fanwork that demonstrates it most:
Family, and also crack. Sometimes the most interesting stories and creations are the ones with the unexpected juxtaposition. Sometimes, it falls flat, but you don't know until you try...
What demonstrates that most? The WIP that I've been storyboarding today. Heh.

I have to say that I absolutely adore all of your SPN vids but you're right the "Laid" one is absolutely the sexiest and the best one thus far in my world. Thank you soooo much for all the vids that you put out. They really are appreciated as are you. Happy New Year!!

I realised when I put this together that I never actually posted about "Laid" on my LJ or on [livejournal.com profile] vidding, so I'm going to do that tonight or tomorrow, just for "completeness" purposes. They are so pretty in it, aren't they?

Pretty is definetly one word that I would use to describe these boys. Personally I think that marble statues should be erected in their likenesses so they can be worshiped from all across the kingdom.
