Oh, show!
Huh, I think this is the first time I've made an all-SPN post but haven't used an SPN icon. Hey, at least I'm not using my Milo With A Book in GG icon, because that would be Awkward.
I'm loving the music in this! It really is almost disneyfied!
Oooh, hi Sandy-in-the-credits!
Poor three little piggies.
Love the boys fighting in the car and Dean claiming age-as-power, and then Sam's reaction to the guy's statement about losing his brothers (oooh, manipulation!) and his drawing! Awwww.
Huh, in the woods? I hope the apple pie is freakin' worth it.
Oh, cherry pie.
Probably wasn't.
Oh, Dean, you've never read the original Grimms? You had the weirdest childhood - he probably got almost 5 years of Disney and then nothing.
Oh, look! Trevor!
So is this supposed to be just before Halloween? Other than the trees in NY being nice and green, that is.....
Erm. Ok, they now have actually gone there. Again.
Hm. Does Dean have an apple-aversion now? Or is he just being smart?
I love how there's been at least 3 fairy tale themed ads so far!
...there was a novel I read back when I was 8 or 9 about a little girl who appeared to play with some of the girls in a town - she was the spirit of an old woman - the town librarian - who came 'alive' when the woman slept, and was in a coma, with one final visit when she died. Same sort of sleep-spirit thing as this.....
Sammy isn't so good at the convincing people thing. And I wondered if the doctor is Munchausing.... or maybe not.
Ooh, Dean is the hunter come to kill the wolf! How lovely! And I have the last shot I needed for my vid, yay.
Oh, this is so sad. Doctor, I am so sorry I suspected you! : hugs the good doctor
Awww, this is an amazing segueway into mutharc and it's visually so evocative of 2.01, too, which is amazing.
And what are you doing, boyling? Did you slip something from Granny's house into your pocket and dose Dean as
cedarlibrarian seems to think?
Ok, this crossroads scene is creeping me out. Sorry, the RL relationship overtone, especially when he shoots her, is just..... I dunno why it bothers me but it does.
But I hope there's no way out of the deal - I want Sam to go down into hell and bring Dean out!
Gah, this really was a solid "A" episode. If they'd included the Goose Girl or something slightly more obscure it would've been an A+ though.
ETA: Earlier this week, a friend of mine who's a YA librarian posted on her work-related blog with a Project to do something Nifty - I'm sure you've seen those American Library Association READ! posters featuring people like Orlando Bloom, various Buffy-sters, Neil Gaiman, etc.
She thinks that it would be absolutely brilliant and perfect if Jensen and Jared were featured on one, because Show showcases the Importance of Libraries and Reading, especially in episodes like tonight's.
Click here to learn more - or if you're too overcome by tonight's episode, you can just send an email to Rachel Johnson at rjohnson @ ala.org (without the spaces) and suggest that Jared and Jensen would make great READ spokesmen. She's the one who has the power to make that decision - or at least to ask them to do it. It would be a great promotion for the power of libraries and reading, and also, a terrific way to promote the show!
Oh, and speaking of Reading, did anyone get a copy of the new issue of SPN Origins? It's the last issue of the set, and I haven't read it yet but I hope it's good. Hope. The fact that it says "hit CW show" on the top is probably a good sign, isn't it?

Date: 2007-11-02 02:15 am (UTC)Hell, I'd buy it!
Btw...do you watch "Torchwood"? I was noticing a very strong resemblance between "Countrycide" and SPN's "The Benders". Like it got Jossed or something.

Date: 2007-11-02 02:26 am (UTC)Well, no, but what really got me was that last thing Gwen asked the guy: "Why did you do it?" "Because it made me happy." and in "The Benders", the guy is asked the same thing and he said "Because it was fun." and my textual promiscuity filters pinged.
Man, I need some SPN/Torchwood/newer stuff icons...

Actually, I'm not sure he's young enough to have gotten a lot of Disney as a toddler (he was born in 1979). No Disney channel on cable yet, few VHS tapes (or BETA omg) out. It wasn't until the Little Mermaid in 1989 that the Disney stuff really started to go hog wild. But YMMV.
But I hope there's no way out of the deal - I want Sam to go down into hell and bring Dean out!
Yes, yes, a thousand times YES!!! :D

Date: 2007-11-02 02:50 am (UTC)But back then, movie theaters would show Disney films on Saturdays and during Summer Vacation and you would just see them in theaters. I remember seeing Bambi in a theater in 1976 or 77, and Cinderella in 1980. I think they probably continued with rereleases like that into the mid-80s, IIRC....

Date: 2007-11-02 04:21 am (UTC)Is the "went there again" about the gay line? Or am I just...bothered by it. Which is weird, 'cause I really liked pretty much all the dialogue in this ep: it was decently written and really nicely delivered (and Humphries still has points for BUaBS). But that line bugs me. Possibly because this season has been really hitting the OUR BOYS LIKE CHICKS thing on the head. Hard. A lot. A lot.

Date: 2007-11-02 03:37 pm (UTC)Jared and Jensen couldn't be more perfect for the READ! posters. We all know that Sam always carries his laptop around with him but they're always in libraries which just proves that sometimes the interenet isn't the best source for information and that you actually need to put some effort into your search and do some reading. It tries to get people away from their PC's so much and gets them back to the books. perfect promotion if you ask me. Ok so how do we get these 2 on the posters. Like now. Right now.
And with every fiber of my being I so want Sammy to snatch Dean from the jaws of hell. I think that that would be the all time SQUEEEEEE!!!!
