Oh my God I just read the first sentences of DH.

Via titti - the Observer has an article about Christopher Little (JKR's agent) and in it, they transcribe the words at the start of Chapter 1. It's about 2/3 of the way through the article.

I know I said I didn't want spoilers - and I wouldn't read a paraphrase of those lines if someone paid me a million dollars, and I wouldn't want to see anything other than the absolute start of the book (ie the first sentences, or the first chapter, followed by the second, etc. etc.).

But back when GoF came out, Newsweek featured it on the cover, and had the entire first chapter of the novel printed in its pages - I read it days before the book itself came out, and that didn't spoil me, because it was directly from JKR.

I recognize that others consider that sort of thing spoilery, though, so I won't post any of that actual content here - and no, I don't want to see the chapter titles - I plan to ignore the ToC in the book! - but yeah.

So I've read it.

I am so excited and so scared about the end. I've made some of my closest friends in fandom, people I love with all my heart, and I wish I could be with them when the book comes out. As it happens, David and I are proceeding to our MA's on the Saturday morning, and I'm totally torn: do I stay up and rush through the book before the ceremony, or do I wait and savour it but possibly get horribly spoiled by some horrible person who likes ruining things for other people?

(the cool thing is that the night beforehand, we get a fabulous graduation meal in Hall--which is like the Great Hall in HP--wearing our gowns, and then several of us will be going out to wait for the midnight opening. but the ceremony is at 11.00am which I am dreading either because i will be so tired having not slept, or because i might get spoiled.)

GAH! I read the lines last night b/c I couldn't get to mnet and micah just cut and pasted with no warning into aim.... GAH Until then I was actually spoiler-free (surgical enforced media blackout will do that to you....) and thought I *might* actually make it to Fri. Now I'm going back and forth on wether I want the ToC, they did kinda wreck HBP for me, but still; I have no patient and I'm bored!

I wish I could pull an all nighter, that's half the fun, but my eyes can't handle more than a bit of reading at a time beofre I have to rest again, so it looks like I'll still be reading on Sat. Just not leaving my friend's appt until I'm done.
