The Common Room at Prophecy is ‘the place’ to hang out and they are running fan fic readings throughout the day and night. The Common Room will be open 24 hours a day during Prophecy with the more adult rated fics being read late at night.


We are looking for volunteer readers and authors to sign up and share some of their favorite fic with the rest of us! Although the link states the author has to be registered that is no longer the case. We have opened it up - anyone who wants can read but he/she still needs to fill out the form.

[HPEF has] received a bid for an event at the newly announced and already widely anticipated Wizarding World of Harry Potter Theme Park at Universal Studios, Orlando Florida, for July 15 -- 18, 2010. The bid team is led by Kari Phillips, who can be contacted at utkari02 @ yahoo.com.

In accordance with our bid procedures, HPEF hereby issues a Call for Bids to request proposals for alternate dates or locations. Anyone interested in submitting a competitive bid for 2010 MUST contact HPEF by June 23, 2007 at hpeducationfanon @ gmail.com, and MUST submit their bid materials no later than midnight Central Time on July 15, 2007, for consideration.

Although Harry’s story reaches its final installment in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” we at HPEF know that the phenomenon JK Rowling brought about in 1997 is far from over, and we eagerly look forward to the next chapter…

Back When Giles was at Hogwarts... – Roundtable

The Harry Potter universe that JK Rowling created has so many attributes from different mythologies and folklores, from werewolves and witches to unicorns and black dogs - and as it's set in our real world, we Muggles find things we recognize, too, like PlayStations and bacon sandwiches. These attributes make it a natural for fanfic writers and fanartists to cross the Harry Potter universe with other fictional universes - we've even seen famous tv shows like Doctor Who cross with the Potter-verse on occasion. In this round-table, attendees are asked to bring two or three pieces of fanfiction, fanart or even published work that crosses over with the Potter-verse, to read, share and discuss as we explore the whys and hows of crossover creativity.


The Monetization of Fandom – Roundtable

This session will be a guided discussion of digital capabilities like Google ads, Amazon.com Associateships, MySpace music sales, fanartist commissions, CafePress stores, Lulu.com printing of PDFs, LiveJournal and FFN paid accounts and the furor surrounding FanLib, and their actual and potential impacts on fan creativity.

To my everlasting sorrow, no. :-( It wasn't really a viable plan then, and became less as time went on.

On top of monetary concerns, I found out school starts on the 9th (Yes! August 9! Can you believe that??). So the week leading up to it will be spent fielding fits of teenage panic over things like hair and clothes and "OMG I have GOT to have a new cel! I had this one last year, people will MOCK ME!" ;)

I will read everybody's posts about Prophecy and live vicariously through the net as usual. Thanks for thinking of me though! :)
