And in my flail, I mistyped something.

No, only Nathan is dead as he dropped Peter from a huge height and flew away really quickly so he'd be safe and Peter would kaboom before he hit the ground is supposed to be "No, neither are dead as Nathan dropped Peter from a huge height and flew away really quickly so he'd be safe and Peter would kaboom before he hit the ground except Peter can't be killed by radiation so he isn't dead either."
SORRY!

BOTH THE PETRELLI BROTHERS SURVIVE

Here's how I explain it to myself:

1. Nathan couldn't drop Peter and fly away, since he didn't know when Peter would explode and the whole idea was to save the world.

2. However, he was so determined to get Peter away from NYC that he forgot about outer space.

3. Reaching a certain height, he ran out of air, lost consciousness, and let go of Peter accidentally. Then, as he fell, he fell far enough away from Peter that he survived the explosion... which was, however, enough to wake him up, at which point he flew to safety.

4. Peter's healing factor saves him. (We will ignore the reality of his disintegrated brain.)

Now, why Peter didn't simply fly away solo -- no Nathan required -- I cannot understand at all. Especially since I was explicitly telling him to do so.

Someone on a message board I read theorized that Peter was concentrating so hard on not exploding that he couldn't make himself fly away.

That's sorta what I was flailing in trying to explain to Wes in the post-show commercial...

Well, I think that's about the best we can hope for. =)

Along similar lines, try explaining how

• a lead bullet could have killed him, defeating his healing power, and thus stopped the nuke-level explosion, but

• the nuke-level explosion doesnot defeat his healing power and kill him

A lead bullet in his brainstem would have killed him. Removing it would have brought him back, but the killing should have/could have stopped the radiation power from kabooming everyone.

...in which case Peter is now surely dead due to the utter disintegration of his brainstem.

But let's try this:

1. Claire shoots Peter.
2. A thin metal cable 1000 miles long is attached to the bullet.
3. Peter is dumped into the center of the Pacific.
4. Somebody on a boat pulls the string, yanking out the bullet.

This way saves Nathan, notice.

On the other hand, it doesn't quite have the gripping Brothers Bond Together, Dramatically Sacrificing Selves, to Save World thing going for it.

Did you look through the comments after the article? It seems to me there's a pattern.
