heidi: (Wanted)

I was very, very nervous about this episode. Prison/jail fanfics are my bulletproof squick. I hate them, almost as much as I hate deathfics in this fandom (although I can totally deal in other fandoms - I mean, there's a lot of great set-in-azkaban fic out there!). So I feared that I would hate this ep, and I really couldn't relax enough to enjoy *anything* about it until I realised, about 18 seconds before the reveal, who Deacon was - which, of course, led to a few plot-hole issues but I won't overthink them too much.

Because of that belated-reveal, we don't see the first 40 minutes from the brothers' perspective at *all*. Everything that's happening with and to them is, to some degree, controlled (no, not completely, but they're working from a plan that's more than what we know), and I like that, in terms of plot/show/creativity.

I also wibbled like hell for Dean to have *another* heart attack. I know all signs of damage were wiped away in IMTOD, but still - he knows what it's like to die - or nearly so - from a failing heart, and that was a very resonant plot point, even if it was small. Yay for continuity.

Is anyone making screencaps of the comic book commercial, btw? Did anyone catch the writing on the wall that they're coming for the children - ie plural? Since I'm totally unspoilered for the rest of the season, I'm wibbly about that - although of course, technically it might have nothing to do with Sam and Dean at all. Maybe? Don't give me spoilers to answer this, please?!?

I can imagine the casting process for this ep - "Are you taller than Jared Padalecki? Cool! You're hired!"

Of course, there were probably a few times someone said, "You're only 6 foot 4? Here, stand on this box!"

Oh, and for the Dean/Baseball OTP people, this had that great moment when he wished for a baseball! Cute! Made me think of various fics!

And I loved the fact that in the museum, Sammy picked up some cool artifact, and Dean went for the scary-shiny knife. Now *that's* a knife.

Next week?

Oh, Dean.

Oh man, Heidi... I don't know if I can TAKE watching next episode, especially since, in all likelihood, Dean's going to have to make some sort of choice to change things back... like choose between having his family and someone's life and OMFG. ;_; I'm going to cry.

I'm weirdly glad that it seems the djinn steals the wish from him rather than Dean choosing the wish to make. But we'll see how it goes.

WIBBLE!

How often does he actually see people who are taller than him?

It's like the scene in Cheaper By the Dozen when Hillary Duff comes up to Tom and Jared's elbows!

I am SO SPOILED for next week. \o/ But nothing after that. My finale experience is almost pristine.

Did the show ever mention Dean's heart attack? Because I must have missed that.

No, it didn't mention it specifically, but it felt like they were linking back to S1.

Why are LJ comment emails down? *cries*

Hmm, okay, I can see that now. It didn't occur to me during the ep, but other people on my flist are mentioning it too.

I think when the season's done someone needs to do a poll to scale all the eps on the Angst-Whomp-O-Meter?

: puts dean's heart in nice lucite box to keep it safe.

Er.

Or not.

: gives it back

ROFL.
God, I can just imagine the fics of Dean having to go through another semi-heart attack.

Imagine watching the episode with a gent recently out of the clink.

I imagine such an experience would involve a LOT of nitpicking, and perhaps a little admiration about the details they got right (the shoes), and speculation as to how Dean got such a tailored jumpsuit (traded cigarettes to a Dominican prisonhouse tailor).

Yeah I basically yelled out loud about not having another heart attack thrown on Dean, that's just not allowed.

And next week will kill me dead, I'm already prepared for that!

yep. for sure plot hole issues, which kind of irked me. i mean, there was so much emphasis, especially from sam's part, about how this was really affecting the two of them and their criminal records and whatnot. and with deacon who he was, i feel like a) sam really shouldn't have been THAT worried about getting away and b) they didn't really need to go to all the trouble of getting arrested, did they? I feel like that could be way better controlled...
