I'm so far behind that someone already probably posted this, but in the same issue of EW that spotlights Supernatural as the tv pick of the week, Dalton Ross deems writing fanfiction a sign that one is an SF/F nerd (along with donning Spock ears and deciphering TNG, HRG, ESB, BSG, TARDIS and CSM (I bet all of you can get at least three of those!).

And he also lists the five worst songs to listen to while getting it on:
Mr Roboto by Styx
I Drink Alone by George Thorogood
Anything by Weird Al
I Ran by A Flock of Seagulls
Ninja Rap by Vanilla Ice (yes, it's from the first TMNT (decipher? ;) movie

What do you think the worst song to listen to while getting it on is?

My vote is probably for Adams Family Rap by MC Hammer, although I can think of a dozen (mostly about child abuse) like Suzanne Vega's Luka that are all equally bad.

What's your pick?

TARDIS is best left alone, as the stuff it stands for just plain sucks--obviously a product of an earlier era.

Also, when I heard "Wanna B Ur Lovr" by Weird Al, I thought "Hmm, great song for sex!"

I <3 the TARDIS myself. I really want one. Badly.

I just think that the expanded name doesn't make much sense.

ahahaha you're right. It totally doesn't. I guess that one just made a pretty acronym. :))

And dude, who wouldn't want a TARDIS? :D

I don't have Spock ears (never have been into Trek) but:

TNG - The Next Generation

HRG - I don't know!

ESB - Empire Strikes Back

BSG - Battlestar Galactica

TARDIS - Time And Relative Dimension In Space

CSM - The X Files geek in me says Cigarette Smoking Man, but it's possible it means something else.

Mmmmm a horrible song to have sex to would have to be like... church hymns or national anthems. Bumping uglies to the Star Spangled Banner? Not on for me. :)) Though I do agree that any song about child abuse would be out as well. Ugh.

:)) NERD.

I don't watch Heroes. My brain can only handle so much. I want to though. Heroes and Supernatural are both on my List to Acquire At Some Point.

I am almost certain that the Ninja Rap has come on while I was, you know, but I already KNEW that the boy and I were HUGE nerds, so it's not really a surprise. :p

I think one of the worst things on my computer could be anything off a Veggie Tales soundtrack. Mostly because vegetables singing about God doesn't do much to turn one on. There is a large hillarity factor though, depending on how warped the senses of humour of the participants are. :p

This will tell you nothing, but the Best of Rivals Tenipuri character by Yanagisawa. The character in the series for some unfathomable reason says "Daaaaneeeee" a lot, so this song, poppy and horrible in itself, is offset with him yelling Daneee in the background a lot, kind of like a techno song.

I do speak from personal experience in this case. ://

I don't watch this show (I'm allergic to tennis, don't ask) but "da ne" is a really annoying piece of verbal garbage in Japanese, kind of like being like that person who like, always says like, you know?

If you want to be really annoying, say "da yo ne" all the time, which is just like "da ne" only more emphatic. There's a really funny Japanese rap song called "da yo ne" by East End X Yuri.

Like like, "da ne" has an actual use and meaning (it means something along the lines of "that's how it is, you know?") but saying it all the time just means you're an inarticulate brat.

I listened to Eminem a lot during my divorce from the psychotronic nutbot. I found his stuff of that time (late 90s) not so much misogynistic as an expression of hatred for a single person that no-one who has never been through a breakup That Bad can really relate to, but damned satisfying for those that can. Nonetheless, I can't imagine getting it on while listening to '97 Bonnie and Clyde.

I dunno about Mr. Roboto, because that so easily segues into Domo ori-gasm, Mr. Roboto . . .

I had a conversation about I Ran last week, and I admitted that when the song first came out, I thought it was a tribute to the American hostages held in Iran in 79/80 because I thought it was "And Iran, Iran's so far away . . . I couldn't get away!"

*d0rks*

Yeah, anything by Weird Al, I couldn't jig to. Especially Weasel Stomping Day.

Just Don't Ask Me What it Was would be a horribe song to have on while you're trying to be romantic. If I actually listen to the words, it usually makes me feel like crying.

What do you think the worst song to listen to while getting it on is?

My vote is anything that you used to listen to getting it on with the ex, when you're with your current. Instant mood-killer.

A survey done a few years back uncovered that most Americans believe "Tainted Love" to be the worst song to listen to while making love.

I do not judge; I merely share information. :D

I know all of them except CSM. Is it Cigarette Smoking Man from X-Files?

As for worst song to listen to during sex, I nominate any hymn or song from your religion. You don't want to be in the sanctuary or the temple and have a memory of the last time you heard/sang that song...
