But I had to write it up for myself.
House. Senate. Statehouses. Governorships.

Oversight. A change in the cabinet.

Stem cell research in one more state. A rejection of a ban on gay marriage in one more state.

And maybe in two years it will be ten more states. Or even more.

It's a chance to fix the country and see whether we can again be a place of hope and optimism and, well, not torture.

I still believe in a place called hope.


But for now, I'm off to get ice cream to enjoy while watching The Daily Show. Last night's episode has been downloaded from iTunes and is on my ipod so I can share it - belatedly - with my grandma tomorrow.


Should I retire this icon or otherwise tweak it to commemorate today? If so, how?

Hope is returning to me. I've found myself alternating between bursting into hysterical giggles on and off and wanting to burst into tears for the last two days.

I really had lost hope that this was still possible.

No! Keep the icon! Just change it to "Kick 'im out! Vote Democratic in '08!"
