Ick. That type of casting really, really annoys me. I'm very glad that they didn't, even though Harry and James are supposed to look vvery mch alike (except for the eyes, of course).
y'know....I don't think I agree. I think the whole "same actor plays child/parent" thing is way overused to begin with, and JKR take pains to point out that they don't actually look identical...
*ponders*
also, btw -- when do you need that drawing by? Is leaving it 'till the weekend going to be too late?
I can't take it to the printer before Monday anyway, so that's fine. If you have a draft for me to look at before that, groovy, otherwise, Sunday-overnight-to-monday is fine
Eh, I have to disagree there. James isn't supposed to look EXACTLY like Harry--I suppose with a good amount of make-up, they could have made it realistic, but I'm sure they've found a kid with a decent enough resemblance that they seem like related but not twins.
Were you eavesdropping on the conversation Rachel and I were having last night or something? We absolutely cannot understand why Dan isn't playing James with no scar and contact lenses! This makes no sense from a continuity standpoint. That kid doesn't look a thing like Dan. Are they just doing it to avoid the special-effects increase in budget necessary when one person plays twins in a scene? The skimping on special effects--except when they're computer-generated dragons--is getting on my nerves more and more with each new film. This ain't rocket science; folks have been doing this for a long time, at least since Patty Duke played identical cousins, if not longer. Ergh.
You know, my first impression was that they should have had Dan play young James, but when I stopped to think about it, I was glad they decided against it.
Of course, I was more excited by the guy they got to play Kingsley. Much Raiders of the Lost Ark love there!
