At least none of the covers highlight the amazingness that is Grawp.
Unfortunately, the highlighting of Dumbledore makes it likely that Harry doesn't AK the guy in the first three pages of the book. Unless, of course, all that green stuff is Harry AKing him on the cover? Likely not, right?
And advanced potions-making? Guess he's still in a Snape class... and hopefully Draco will be in there, too? Any bets on whether Ron made it in there? My guess would be 200-3 against.
ETA: Of course, I forgot! It is ron & harry on the US & uk covers, right k2k people? And this is somehow linked to Ron's disclosure of his True Identity?

Oh, and um, anyone want to make an icon or three for FA?

WORD. I guess I have to rethink my thoughts that Dumbledore might die in this book. The other cover looks like he's fighting by Harry's side.

In what realm of logic does "fighting by Harry's side" equate to "will not possibly get killed"?

I mean, that didn't help Cedric Diggory...

It qualifies in the realm of logic that it was 6am when I wrote that and it was a off the top of my head comment, how bout that? :\

I did say in another journal exactly what you just pointed out, Cedric was on the cover of GoF and he died, but I'm more than pleased that Dumbledore is on the cover, he annoyed me in OotP.

I immediately went to "Snape, the half-blood prince"?

And the US cover looks like a Pensieve gone wrong.

Well, with the poor condition that book is in.... Is it secondhand? Is it Ron's?? LOL Or are we to look forward to some more Lupin time? Someone else making his potion.

I'd say it's probably Snape's personal copy, worn almost to bits first from his own use as a teenager and then from fifteen or so years of teaching.

"Advanced Potion Making" - which means that Harry will be taking NEWT-level Potions, presumably much against Snape's will. SQUEEEEE!

Not necessarily--you don't see Snape around, do you? He's not the only one who could teach potions...

It occurs to me, upon seeing the hi-res version of the British adult cover, that the Advanced Potion Making book is very, very old. So perhaps it's something about this specific book, rather than Harry taking NEWT-level Potions itself, that's important in HBP...

Pretty much all of the books in the wizarding-world are old, though, aren't they? Or at least, they're purported to be. It adds to the mystic quality.

I don't think that ALL books in the WW are necessarily as old as this specific book appears to be. I'm just wondering why THIS specific book, of all the books in the Wizarding World, appears on the cover of HBP. I'd like to assume it's not just some random old book!

I'm really looking forward to Harry in advanced potions - we haven't really seen him interact with Snape since the Pensieve incident, so it should be interesting to see how that goes.

I'm also intrigued to hear theories on why 'Advanced Potions Making' has been made so prominent on the cover. Maybe HBP is going to be Snarry. ;)

I think the highlighting of Dumbledore means he's going to die in this one. After, you know, reconciling with Harry and fighting with him. Then...he dies.
