Gacked from a comment made by [livejournal.com profile] tea_and_toast- rec me a product. Something you use, own or have tried, which you like and think I might want to try, too. Ipod accessories, computer program,s makeup, hair stuff, interesting candies, pregnancy & baby stuff, cafepress store things, booklights, home accessories, yummy candles, whatever.

Boys - or those who buy stuff for boys - any recs for stuff for spouse or kids?

(Can you tell I'm working on my holiday/bday list?)

About the LUSH stuff...I was there yesterday and the holiday bombs and melts are out. The Sinter Klaas bomb is fantastic - very nice smell, very cute design (for those people who do the S.C. thing) and very little random crud left floating around your bathtub. (This stuff drives me nuts.)

today I'm Sephora obsessed, which I have you to thank for. I'm getting Philosophy products for most of the girls in the family.

If you're looking for interesting gifts for all kinds of people, peruse the Signals catalog. It's labeled as "for friends and fans of public television" but it's an absolute cornucopia of Cool Stuff.

www.signals.com, I think. The whole catalog is online.

See's Chocolates Not especially 'interesting', but all time personal favourite for taste.

And for anyone not on a low-carb diet: Boudin's sourdough bread. I make my mother bring me a loaf every time she comes East. MISS IT SO MUCH.

Alas, cannot think of anything especially clever in other areas. You're usually the one reccing things to ME. :))

yummy candles....

Mmm, wax. ;) I regularly spend way too much money at Illuminations (http://www.illuminations.com/), especially on the scented jar candles.

Cherry Drops, which are cherry-flavoured boiled sweets. And while the flavour is not, er, very cherry-like, they are wonderful.

the big blue tub of NIVEA hand cream (creme?) is the best hand lotion i've found in a long time, and i think myself something of a lotion connessieurerere.
also the white around-the-back-of-your-head headphones are a nice $50 alternative to the iPod earbuds.
and, um, i just got a mr coffee burr grinder that's really nice. never underestimate the power of the smell of freshly-ground coffee.
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, too, goes on the rec-list.
and Scala (http://www.kolacny.com/), the belgian girls' choir, singing modern pop/rock songs, like kylie and the divinyls and other really pretty stuff gets a really big thumbs up. its a more actually-listenable alternative to the langley schools project (http://www.keyofz.com/keyofz/langley/).
and, um, any local-made baby/babymama stuff, like this (http://www.austinmama.com/mamasshop.htm) gets a big thumbs up in my book.
recs whee!

Makeup - MAC powder. I wear Studio Fix (http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/products/sp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY15107&PRODUCT_ID=PROD1379) and love it. It's actually powder/foundation in one, but it's really just a slightly heavier powder. My friend's dermatologist recced it, since she had bad skin, and I've sworn by it ever since I first tried it about three years ago. Makes my skin look really smooth and even, absorbs oil better than most, lasts forever. <3.

I visited the link out of curiosity and looked at the color swatches... Err, based on the lot currently up, I'd use them for blush and/or eye shadow. Over $20. {whistles}

As a Floridian, I work at staying light-colored to not have make-up undermine it. {chuckle} Though, it does make it problematic to find the right shade.

Those really aren't very good color swatches - I actually noticed that when I found the link. I wear N3, and that's nowhere NEAR the color it really is - I am super!pale.

I'm a big fan of Bobbi Brown's palettes, so here's one from the holiday collection.

Love L'Occitane's body products, especially the Shea Butter lotion and soap. It's the best soap evah!

The Shea Butter Hand Cream is also very nice.

I swear that sometimes I really do do other things besides bathe and primp. No, really.

Triple Paste diaper ointment

Date: 2004-11-11 03:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] enelya-oronar.livejournal.com
My daughter had HORRIBLE diaper rash. We actually let her go diaper-less whenever possible.

She would fuss when we sat her in the high chair. Then my friend and pediatrician recommended Triple Paste. She told me most places do not stock it but you can ask for it at the pharmacy. No prescription necessary.

Wonderful! Outstanding! It was miraculous!

Here is a link: http://www.epinions.com/content_73316208260

I always give it with any baby shower gift.

How about 20Q? It is a handheld 20 questions game that is pretty amazing. You answer the basic questions with yes/no/maybe answers and it tells you what you are thinking of. It is amazingly accurate and it becomes somewhat addictive.

Nice, not too expensive, but still nice, liquid ink pens. With a nice weight that makes you long to write. Mmmmm. And I love Sharpies in all shapes and forms. I love my Gap jeans. And got2b conditioner. Certificates to music stores never go awry.

YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils mascara - my holy grail - I love this stuff.

I'm always very fond of lanterns - I have a lot of fun with those and candles - it creates a lovely atmosphere.

I also like Kerastase hair products...

Anything to soak your feet and give a massage - the feet soaker things that you can get at Target or Bed Bath and Beyond...etc. Good for sore feet...

I'll add more if I think of more. :)

OMG TIVO! It changed my life. Seriously. I recommend it for anyone with a TV who doesn't own one.

Also, there's $100 rebate right now, you can get one for around $100 or $150.

MAC cosmetics, I second the recommendation. They're cruelty-free and they will take your empties back as recyclables. In fact, they used to have a return-6-empties and get a free lipstick thing going, not sure if they still do. The color lasts forever.
