and, um, i just got a mr coffee burr grinder that's really nice. never underestimate the power of the smell of freshly-ground coffee.
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, too, goes on the rec-list.
and Scala (http://www.kolacny.com/), the belgian girls' choir, singing modern pop/rock songs, like kylie and the divinyls and other really pretty stuff gets a really big thumbs up. its a more actually-listenable alternative to the langley schools project (http://www.keyofz.com/keyofz/langley/).
and, um, any local-made baby/babymama stuff, like this (http://www.austinmama.com/mamasshop.htm) gets a big thumbs up in my book.

I also like Kerastase hair products...
Anything to soak your feet and give a massage - the feet soaker things that you can get at Target or Bed Bath and Beyond...etc. Good for sore feet...
