So JKR talks about the HBP and discoveries and such, and now, I'm even more convinced than I was before that the half-blood prince is Godric Gryffindor. The HBP storyline dovetails with a discovery Harry made in CoS - and one of his discoveries was that he was "a true Gryffindor".
She also says the HBP isn't tom riddle because tom is the same person as Voldemort. So much for what Dobby said in CoS...

Date: 2004-07-26 08:58 am (UTC)And, I don't pretend to be an expert at history, but if Slytherin were a halfblood, this would be another parallel with WWII/the Nazis. If I recall correctly, there's been some speculation that Hitler's grandfather was Jewish (I don't think it was ever proven). Regardless of that, he didn't really exhibit any of the physical "Aryan" characteristics of the supposed "master race" (i.e. blond hair, blue eyes, etc.).
So I could totally see Salazar Slytherin resenting where he came from so much that he wanted to get rid of all the other halfbloods.
