Jun. 28th, 2004 06:30 pmWhat was the original working title of Chamber of Secrets?
Harry Potter and the Half Loved Prince. I quite liked that title, unfortunately the story bore no relation whatsoever to the title by the time I'd finished.

Corrected, it's Half-Blood Prince. And we know that it's a typo, in part because last July, a company controlled by her agents in the UK filed a trademark application for "...Half-Blood Prince", and also because there are other typos in that interview, including "Godrick Gryffindor" and "Ferenzi".
So is she reusing an old title that she really loved? Is she giving out a list of possible titles for books she's already published?
I will say that I like this title more than that Storge title; I didn't really think that passage sounded like her anyway. I will note that at least one person on my flist would've prefered the next title be Harry Potter & the Half-blood's Pillar, as a reference to Harry/Seamus ;) and I'm sure that another hundred or so would've preferred Harry Potter & the Prince's Pillar as a reference to Draco, because he's a Black and true Blacks think that being a Black makes you practically royal. Another hundred would've said that Harry Potter & the Prince's Pillar referred to Harry/Ron, as Ron and the Weasleys are clearly descendents of Elizabeth Tudor's, via her romance with Robert Dudley, and since Elizabeth was a witch, just like her mother...
Right?

Date: 2004-06-28 04:13 pm (UTC)I wonder if Harry could have a Great and T00by Love Affair with Snape in canon. I don't think I'd want him to, unless they sold the book in the adult sections of the book stores. >:)

Date: 2004-06-28 03:43 pm (UTC)Have you seen her FAQ section on the wand order in GoF? I think she must mean that James was the first to die, then Lily. But what she actually says is that James was the first to come out of the wand then Lily. Either way, that's bound to spark off a lot more confusion.

Well. I'm sure that's not her plan but that's where MY head went.

Either it's sadly deficient in Greek, or it's gained the gift of prophecy.

Huh? Okay, when's the last time you got ANY sleep, Heidi?
I personally think it's something of a no-brainer. If she wanted to call the second book, which was our introduction to Tom Riddle, "The Half-Loved Prince" and she wants to call the sixth one something similar, "Half-Blood Prince" must refer to Tom Riddle himself (who is a half-blood and came from a very wealthy Muggle family as well as an illustrious albeit it dying-out wizarding one).
Which means, as I suspected, that the sixth book will give us more backstory about Riddle. I have other theories about how it will mirror CoS and also parallel PoA, but that's for another time.
And I thought *I* tended to ramble! Hehe.
