FictionAlley's been Farked - they (read: the honchos there, not all the posters) think we're stupid, and that Harry Potter fanfic in general is, too.

Whatever.

The end result, of course, is that we've had an extra - and unexpected - server load. FARK's modis operandus seems to be to, as copperbadge just said to me, "Let's mock it... and crash it!" So we apologize for the slowness of FA today. Hopefully, they'll get over it.

I am very much reminded of the last time Fark mentioned Harry Potter fanfic, only back then someone said the best thing ever on the topic of Harry Potter:

yes, they [the HP books] are intended for children, but so are boobies. just because they're made for children doesn't mean they can't be fun for adults too

Commented to add - IMO - bandwidth aside, this is fairly amusing at times - I've seen two fanfic recs that actually interested me - (And if they hadn't eaten up the bandwith, I could actually find that Dobby/Gollum fic, someone said exists on FA.) and I think if we haven't a t-shirt that says "FAP" on the merchandise page, we should definitely get one as obviously there is an actual demand for it. Maybe that would make up for the wasted bandwidth.

Oh, and does anyone know if alt.wesleycrusher.die.die.die is/was an actual newsgroup?
