Second of all, there is NO relationship between FA and HPfGU at all, except that some people who have fanfic on or post at FA are also members of the HPfGU list.
Third, none of the FA mods or coders have ANYTHING against R/Hr or H/G shippers, despite the lies that have frequently been told to many R/Hr and H/G shippers over the past two years, and it's offensive to people like me who WANT to build bridges among fandomers to be told that we are consumed with hatred and nonsense like that. When you say that FA admins/mods "blame" R/Hr or H/G shippers, what on earth are you contending we've blamed them FOR?
Fourth, I can't imagine blaming any of the SQ mods, admins and/or ghosts for anything nefarious, simply because they're not in the habit of *doing* anything nefarious. Among their site-team are some of my good friends, and there are Quillers all over my friends list, and I'm on a number of theirs. And in part, it's because I've found that talking to people, rather than lying about them, especially when you think you're talking behind their backs, is much more positive and productive and in keeping with the spirit of the HP books. SQ has been on FA's Links We Love page since the site was founded, and they are certainly going to stay there.

GT has been gone for a month now, and the Harry Potter fandom is still fighting. I find that funny, because various people associated with FA blamed it all on the people at GT. Well, who do they get to blame now? Sugarquill? Nah, that'll never happen.
People...you are not celebrities. If you were to walk away right now, 99% of the people wouldn't remember you in a year. Get the fuck over yourselves.

OF COURSE they'll blame Sugarquill. Or The Hidden Tower. Or Sink Into Your Eyes. Or any other pro-R/Hr and pro-H/G site that the mental cases at FA think they can get away with blaming. They're completely delusional and have the attitude that if they can't have their way, then they'll destroy the fandom entirely just so those of us who were right all along can't enjoy it. Pathetic and childish, really. And as if we need any more proof of just how much these people are out of touch with reality, have a laugh at this...

Written by none other than Penny Linsenmayer, one of the H/Hr adminazis at HP4G, which needless to say, is also associated with FA. Coincidence? I think not.

You seem to lump the entire fandom except for GT, SQ and a few small sites under the banner 'FA'.
Yes, most of the active fandom is registered at FA, but most hardly ever go to FAP. Many are more actively involved with Veelas Inc, or Armchair Slash, or RS, or many other non-FA sites. Only a tiny minority of BNFs are mods or regular visitors to FAP.
Penny has nothing to do with FA, btw.

I never really got this mentality about FA that some of the R/Hr and/or H/G community has. I've never once gotten flack from anyone at FA for being a R/Hr shipper.

Date: 2003-10-23 12:23 pm (UTC)Aside from the Aja/Stacy thing it's been all quite on the fandom front, kind of peaceful actually. No troll journals stalking people, no kerfuffles to stir folks up, and the ship wars seem to even be holding a truce at the moment. There's the same old tensions boiling below the surface, but none of them have come to blows recently, at least not publicly. It's been sort of nice.
Methinks someone (and I don't mean you Heidi) is a little peeved because there *isn't* anything going on to create fandom drama and excitement.

Date: 2003-10-23 12:30 pm (UTC)Ahem.
The great thing about Kvader and his ilk is their complete and total ignorance of the way the fandom is actually constructed. I mean, it's huge and I doubt anyone understands it entirely, but they don't even try. They seem to subscribe to the dimwitted notion that the fandom is divided into Fiction Alley And Subsidiaries, Otherwise Known as Harry/Hermione Shippers and their Dastardly Allies, and GT/SQ Who Represent Everyone Else.
Numerous attempts by, well, everyone, to apprise them of thr actualites have met with no success, largely because if they accepted that their persecution complex was garbage they'd have to accept that they are (were? :D) merely one tiny wanky entity in a giant wanky fandom. At least pretending they're the victims of a massive conspiracy lets them feel important, bless their little cotton socks.
I shall now return to trying to blame the Aja/Stacey/Ivy/Etc. wank on Sugarquill because it beats housecleaning. Never mind none of them have the remotest interest in Sugarquill, nor Sugarquill in them. Who needs logic when you have wanky paranoia?

Date: 2003-10-23 12:43 pm (UTC)Look, this may sound picky but I feel that this expression is rather unnecessary in the context. A "Nazi" was a member of the National Socialist party of Germany who during the period 1933-1945 was responsible, inter alia for the deliberate murder of some 6 million Jews, at least .5 million Romany people, large numbers of homosexuals, Communists, socialists and frankly anyone they didn't care for very much.
Using it, even by analogy, to describe the activities of some people's whose attitudes to a particular series of children's books one disapproves of seems to be missing the point by a distance which can probably be measured in parsecs rather than in miles.

Date: 2003-10-23 03:01 pm (UTC)In every fandom, there are groups of people who believe that if you're not ship-orientated (on their ship), you're against their ship. They are the one true pairing people . . . those who aren't with them are against them. General fic sites are against them, because they support the evil ships as well as the one true ship . . . and that is bad. Because they are the true believers, the blessed by dog, and those who do not ship their ship--even if they do not ship any ship--are the heretics.

NIGHT SWIM
Remus Lupin came up for air, gasping, pleased at the shock to his system; it was like anything else, it was better to leap now and regret it later, if at all.
He slicked his hair back from his face and moved his legs slowly in the chilly water. The others sometimes waded into the cold, but Remus dove. Always. A leap from a high rock into a particularly deep pocket in the lake, a clean cut through the water.
The others hadn't come tonight. James was leading a study session for NEWTs, and everyone was there. Remus supposed he should be, but his nerves were too much on edge. A few laps would help him sleep.
There were sulfur springs on the far side of the lake, where the water was blood-temperature warm. He made for them now, reveling in the werewolf strength which drove the muscles across his back, along his arms, down his thighs and calves. He felt the warm water drift across his face. The rocks here formed small pools, and he could --
"James?" he asked, surprised out of himself by the sight of the other man sitting on one of the rocks, shirtless, wet trousers rolled up, feet propped on another rock in front of him.
James raised his head. Remus gaped. Who else could it be -- but his face was subtly different, and his eyes were green...
"Who's there?" the man asked, curious. "I can't see you in the dark."
Remus drew closer, pulling himself halfway out of the water on a nearby rock. "James, you're supposed to be at the study session," he said, turning to allow the light of the waxing moon to fall on his face.
"I'm not James," the man said. "My name is Harry."
"How'd you get here?" Remus asked. "Nobody's supposed to be on the grounds but Hogwarts people."
"I'm not doing anything wrong," Harry answered. "I came through the forest. I wanted to come here to think."
"Sorry, I'm sure," Remus said, preparing to kick away. "I'll let you alone if you like."
"No -- don't go." The man put out a hand. "I'd like to talk to you."
Remus swam lazily to where he sat, pushing himself up until he was sitting on the same rock that Harry now rested his feet on. He could see now that there were differences between this man and James; the face wasn't the same, the eyes weren't, there were more and better-defined muscles across his chest, and there were scars on his shoulders and ribs. Still, he couldn't be more than seventeen. Remus liked the look of him; he was handsome, magnetic in the same way James was, and graceful.
"You remind me of someone, a teacher I once had," Harry said.
"You remind me of a friend of mine. It's uncanny, really."
The man drew a knee up to his chest, and rested his chin on it. "Aren't you frightened?"
"Of what?" Remus laughed. "Of you?"
"After you leave here. There's a huge world out there and there's so much badness in it. Aren't you scared?"
"Got my mates," Remus said, after a reflective pause. Harry looked like he was about to say something, and then stopped himself.
"It's all inevitable anyway," he muttered.
"What is?"
"Nothing." Harry shrugged. Remus peered closer at him, until their faces were almost touching, Remus' waist between Harry's legs.
"Your eyes are familiar," he said finally. Harry smiled. "You don't look so afraid to me."
"I'm not afraid of you."
"You would be if you knew me."
Harry's green eyes sparked, and as if to prove it to both of them, he bent down and kissed Remus, carefully, slowly, and exceedingly thoroughly.

Date: 2003-10-23 04:45 pm (UTC)Oh, honestly.
I don't like most of the pairings this fandom brings forth. My old OTP now bores me so much I'd rather read other things, such as R/H, even if I never was a big fan of that pairing. Man, people act as if FA was the center of the HP fandom. It's not, there is no center, this is a fandom, not an organisation. FA is just one of the many archives. A lot of excellent stories are out there which won't ever be archived on FA.
FA's not trying to dominate the fandom or dictate any pairings. In fact, FA has fics of the strangest pairings, pairings like Filch/Arthur Weasley, or Remus/Petunia, to name just two of the very weird ones. FA, trying to bash any one pairing? Hah, hah. FA, trying to "destroy" the fandom of a pairing as canon-likely as R/H? Bloody ridiculous.
I am over myself. I really do not know what the frell the guy wants from the Mods/Coders/FA in general.
