...Back.
Yesterday, I had a sciatica attack.
For those of you who've never been withchild,
It's a nerve pinch that's quite the opposite of mild.
I couldn't walk for about an hour,
But with a little Blackberry Power,
I had some tips from RJA and Ali,
And now can manage a bit of sitting.

Any further tips on coping with sciatica would be GREATLY appreicated.

I've had sciatica attacks for years now, and the only thing that's ever helped is chiropractic. I thought it was a bunch of hooey until I tried it. I recommend you find a doctor who does the Activator method - it's more gentle than traditional methods. I know that my former chiropractor treated pregnant women all the time, and even had a special table with the belly area missing so patients could lie on their stomachs. Here's one link I found, but you can search more on Google: http://www.chiro-online.com/interadcom/fl_dc.html#miami. *hugs*

I am so sorry you are suffering from sciatica. Have you tried Pre-natal Yoga? Or even just speaking with a Pre-Natal Yoga instructor? They have some excellent poses for dealing with sciatica and preventative poses for keeping it at bay.

More hugs and tons of sympathy,
Elia

I completely agree with going to see a chiropractor. I called up my cousin, who had severe siatic attacks with both her children (Serra being born this past October) and asked her about her siatic attacks She swears by Chiropractors and totally recommends them. You should maybe look into it -- especially if they have one of those belly tables. It might help to be able to lay on your stomach and might get the baby to quit stomping on that siatic nerve. Either that or like Elia said, pre-natal yoga is probably a good idea too.

*hugs* Hope this passes for you.

I've been living with sciatica for the past 10 months...it's NOT fun. I find that lying on my back on the floor with my legs bent helps to alleviate some of the pain, plus using a heating pad. If the pain is down one leg, stretch that leg. One thing you can do is lie on your back, cross the ankle of the leg that hurts onto the opposite knee, and lift the opposite leg to stretch along your hamstrings and through the sciatic notch thingie. Sleep on your back with a pillow under your knees, too. The thing is, though, is usually has to just heal on its own, and that can take a long time if you're not careful, or even if you are.

*hugs* hope you feel better soon.

Sorry to say I cannot help, having never dealt with sciatica before, though I think my mother did a long while ago. I send my sympathies, though.

Nice poem, by the way. Good technique.

My mum always found lying on her side with a pack of frozen peas on her back useful. Strange but true...
