Yes, I do believe that JKR, or the other "important people" would have stepped in if Jason was talking out of line. Maybe he is right? And JKR doesn't want to say anything yet. *hopeful*

Personally, I think that the abusive!Lucius (emotionally and physically, but not sexually) is very plausible. And also, you have a good point about someone stopping him if he'd been really wrong.

Although...from what I've heard, Isaacs doesn't seem to have made Lucius hyperabusive, just an adult Dudley with brains.

And it's no excuse for Draco to behave as he does.

I have now seen "woobie" used as a noun, an adjective and a verb. (There's almost certainly evidence of it being used as an interjection, too.) This probably qualifies it as an undefined, indefinite hobby word like "t00b" or (American) "wibble".

You're absolutely right. Besides who can deny Jason Issacs he is just too cool. One of my many crushes over the years. I fell in love with him in The Patriot, he plays a bad guy so well plus he has the perfect eyes to be Lucius.
