Plus, fics written for fests and posted yesterday would make it impossible to do a proper count, but if there was a way to quantify it, I would bet that the Day On Which Yuletide Fics Are Uploaded is the day on which the smallest amount of fic is posted to LJ/GJ/JF/IJ, because people are either desperately trying to finish writing their assignment, or are beta reading their friends' fics because they finished early, or are aware of all the writing and beta reading going on and think nobody would be around to read their fic anyway.
Took kids to the Miami City Ballet Nutcracker yesterday. It's absolutely traditional and completely lovely. We were insanely close - rows G and H - so the kids got to see everything perfectly (much better than last year, when we were in Row T). Somehow, Harry still loves it - I am so lucky! - and we took two of his friend, who were equally enchanted.
On this shorted day of the year (in the Northern hemisphere) it is also, coincidentally, time to play the harmonica for a happy, happy Chanukah!
( Let's all sing with Adam! )The lovely
redscharlach made me an adorable Sylar icon that is spoilery for the last two episodes, so I am not going to add it until the new year, but if you want to take a peek, it's
here, and if you want to gack it, you can comment
here.
The nicest thing about tonight is, I finally get to start opening my holiday cards! Aaron opens them as they arrive (which is why the lovely one from
roguebitch was opened - because it was addressed to the Family) and I opened the one from
lostt1 since I knew she was going to post the image and I wanted to see it in card form first, but the rest of them are still sitting happily in their envelopes, because my general practice is to open them once Hanukah starts. So, tonight, I will be surrounded by a slew of ripped envelopes and some ribbon and a stapler so I can hang them from the stairs decoratively!
ETA Posting starts in a few days for
spn_j2_xmas - I know the person I am writing for doesn't know it's me, but I will definitely be posting towards the later end of the schedule, because I got an epic plot bunny and tossed out the first thing I wrote because while it wasn't bad, the new bunny is lovely and I hope I can do it justice, but I at least want to try. For whoever is writing for me, feel free to take the whole time - my birthday is January 15! And I never mind mixing holiday gifts with birthday gifts! But if you want to post it sooner, that's absolutely fine, too! :D
ETA2 - thanks to
dontyouwaitup - there's a Craigslist posting ISO Bush Administration fanfic
here, for a live reading of Bush administration "fiction", including Lynn Cheney's book "Sisters", sometime next month.
