Oct. 5th, 2011 10:24 pmWhen I was in 7th grade, in 1982, I got my first Apple commuter, an Apple IIe. The next summer, I worked in a computer store on 41st street in Miami Beach, and that computer got me through high school and into college. Then, I got a Mac Plus, and when that was stolen, a Mac Classic. I had various macs through the 90s - laptops, a desktop, a Newton - and in 2004, I got my first iPod. The iPad, which I got the day it came out, is my perfect computer - I haven't used a laptop since I got it, and I'm typing on it now.
And it's all thanks to Steve. The days watching Pixar films with my kids, and playing Angry birds at doctor's offices. The way my music - decades of collected songs - comes with me everywhere, around the world, all the time. The ease of connection and communication - and the elegance of it. For that, everything is because of Steve Jobs.
Now he's gone and tomorrow I will go to my friendly local Apple store with white flowers and a red Macintosh apple - even though, to me, the perfect Apple will always be rainbow-colored.
