Some of you may know that my cousin is in Springsteen's band, so because of that I've gone backstage at a half-dozen Springsteen concerts, including when they played at Wembley back in 1985 (our seats were better than Pete Townshend, and Steve Van Zandt stepped on my foot), and at Amnesty in Philadelphia in 1988, about a month after I started college (met the Hooters, who I interviewed a few times over the following years, as they are Penn alums and very nice guys). You can't beat house seats & backstage passes at a Springsteen concert with anything, but out of all the concerts I attended with "muggle" seats, my top three are probably Billy Joel & Elton John in Washington (summer of 1994? Right when Lion King came out, so Can You Feel The Love Tonight wasn't overdone yet), my first Neil Finn concert in the summer of 1998 and the most recent concert I went to, Crowded House in NYC (with
jlh). But I don't want to leave out a-ha in 1986, or Duran Duran in 2005 when I was 7 months pregnant and stood on a chair, or a tiny Everything But the Girl concert in Virginia in August, 1994 the day I came back from a trip out west where everything they played was a request from the audience and they played Fascination for me and my friend Lily.
As per last night, I've added a slew of icons - almost all old school, from the Pirate Movie, Grease, Back to the Future and Twin Peaks. Squee! And since I had imagery on the brain, I did that mosaic meme (which is now on my Profile Page, too. I added an extra line of Things I Just Happen to Like A Lot, because I wanted to. Heh. ( MEMEmosaic )
