From Carina's article on Zap2It:

The CW has ordered a pilot for a current adaptation of "The Tomorrow People," a beloved '70s British series about humans with supernatural abilities. Powers like telepathy, telekinesis, teleportation, and other interesting tele-things emerge in teenagers, complicating their lives and relationships. Presented as the next stage of human evolution, the only thing these teenagers can't do is intentionally kill other people.

The new adaptation has quite a pedigree, as it's executive produced by Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "Political Animals") and Julie Plec ("The Vampire Diaries," "Kyle XY"). The pilot was written by Phil Klemmer ("Chuck").

FLAIL!!!!! Based on the 70s series! I don't know if that means we get a John or an Elizabeth or a Stephen, or whether the whole cast will be American (which I assume as it's a US show, not a UK show this time) or if they're going to mix international characters, or how they're updating it, but the FACT of it - the FACT that the adorable awesomeness of the premise will be done at least for a pilot in a CW-style way? (My headcasting involves Evanna Lynch and Colin Ford, and that's with no knowledge of anything but the concept and the Original Series.)

Omg flail wow and squee. And yes I already have a twitter account for it.

You have an HTML error.

I'm afraid. And certain people who seem to think it should rise to pay TV level adult on-list are not helping.
I really just want Hollywood to put my childhood down and back away slowly.

HTML fixed, I think. bad pasting.
Seriously, I am just ignoring all of them because they're not familiar with the CW in any realistic way and are being way more judgey than I care to care about. After a summer watching Political Animals, I trust Greg Berlanti completely, and knowing that they're basing it off the original series makes me jubilantly joyful.
And if it's a big hit, people *will* go off and watch the original series and request it for Yuletide and write it for Yuletide and share high quality DVD rips and vid it and it'll be awesome in every way.
:hopes:

Oooh, that is exciting. I liked the 70's show, without being too emotionally attached, so I can look forward to the pilot without having to worry that they will spoil something I loved.
Here's hoping they do a good job with it.
