Hello old friend, and here we are. You and me, on the last page. By the time you read these words, Rory and I will be long gone. So know that we lived well, and we’re very happy. And above all else, know that we will love you, always. Sometimes I do worry about you, though. I think, once we’re gone, you won’t be coming back here for a while, and you might be alone, which you should never be. Don’t be alone, Doctor. And do one more thing for me. There’s a little girl waiting in a garden. She’s going to wait a long while, so she’s going to need a lot of hope. Go to her. Tell her a story. Tell her that if she’s patient, the days are coming that she’ll never forget. Tell her she’ll go to sea and fight pirates. She’ll fall in love with a man who’ll wait two thousand years to keep her safe. Tell her she’ll give hope to the greatest painter who ever lived, and save a whale in outer space. Tell her, this is the story of Amelia Pond. And this is how it ends.

And in all those years they made bets on British sports and helped the UK and US through the second war and never once went to Liberty Island. They watched the Dodgers go to LA and the city go to seed and the World Trade Centers rise in the 70s and if they watched the Moon Landing in 1969 privately and with bated breath, they didn't share that knowledge with anyone.
And when they were aging and more sedentary, they invited Canton Delaware and his nice young man up to Manhattan for tea.

Was it beautifully handled? Are you satisfied with it? There's so much weeping and gnashing of teeth on tumblr that I'm not sure if people enjoyed it or are in too much agony to process. I am not watching the show, so I don't know exactly what happened to the, but it seems very bittersweet.

It was perfectly handled, I think. The show has done a wonderful job showing us - especially in seasons 6 and 7 - how good Rory and Amy are together, how they have a life together separate from the Doctor and how much they both love each other, and always have. And they're together, for so many years of love and adventures on earth, with new friends and some old ones, and it's strongly implied that they get to see Melody[River] in their ensuing years and while they'll miss the Doctor and he them, they get so much awesome potential that I feel really, really good about it.

I love the Canton connection. Companions growing old together...I can see that so well!

slkdgjlskgjlksdfx now I really want Amy and Rory Meet Steve Rogers in the 30s or 40s, then somehow help Canton and Spouse adopt Kid Named Phil in the early 70s and Rory gives Little Phil his first Captain America Mint Trading Card and all the crossovers in the WORLD for Amy and Rory and what an amazing life you can have living in the past on earth, and didn't we see Doc Brown do that in Back to the Future? I really, really love how this ended.

I can't help feeling sorry for Rory's dad! But apart from that, I thought it was beautifully done.
