My song type: boys with guitars folkifying pop songs. Also see Roddy Frame's Jump, Mika's Hips Don't Lie, Travis's Hit Me Baby One More Time, Neil Finn's Billy Jean, Jason Manns' Kiss. (I would include Ryan Adams' Wonderwall but it was pretty folky to begin with).

I was surprised when I clicked on the Travis cover of "Hit Me Baby One More Time" that is was a more recent performance! They actually did a live cover of it at a smaller venue back in 1999 and it appeared as a bonus track on the single for "Turn". Weirdly enough, when I put the CD into my computer the track comes up as "We Are Monkeys", LOL.

Listening to them together, the 1999 version definitely is more jokey... and shorter. But it's still awesome: Travis - Baby One More Time (Live 1999)
