Your "husband just tried bacon!" comment reminded me of one breakfast in the dining hall in college. A friend of mine, whom I knew to be Jewish, was calmly eating some bacon. When I pointed out the incongruity, he replied, "Yes, I know - Jews aren't supposed to eat pork. It's like saying Catholics aren't supposed to have premarital sex." :-D (It was even funnier since I had been sleeping with my Catholic bf at the time.)
