I have this black dress with white polka dots that makes me look like the Other Mother from Coraline, according to my son. So I was thinking I could wear it at Comic Con but I'd love to have button eyes to go with it. Can't figure out how to do them, and still be able to actually see.

Any thoughts?

ETA: In other news, I love Nate Silver's brain!

Hmmm... Make some out of that craft clay (Sculpy, I think) that you bake, with really large holes, and then attach them to some cheap wire eyeglass frames? It might take some trial and error to get them just right, but it's the best I've got off the top of my head.

Black sunglasses with round lenses, with four little dots for the holes on the buttons? Maybe even Xs painted on for thread, if you could figure out a way to do it so that it would be hard to see around?

(That would be a SUPER COOL costume!! If you do it, post pictures!)

Ooooh, that's BRILLIANT. If I could bore holes into the glasses, I could actually put in real thread. And I have months to find the perfect glasses....

If you could find the little pince-nez things that sit right on the nose with no earpieces, that would work even better...

OMG. Look how perfect these would be! (The roundness, I mean. If they were little they'd be perfectly perfect. *is completely enchanted by your costume idea, as you can see*but will stop being creepy about it now*)

They are perfect! They're SO big - and I could use yarn and the holes would be on the edges so the x's would be across the whole thing!

I would figure out some kind of eye makeup? so when you shut your eyes, they look like buttons. Maybe? I fail at cosplay :))

I would actually vote for covering your own eyes with skin-colored latex with small (1/4") holes to see through, then affixing buttons half-over latex and half onto brow and drawing on new eyebrows above.

I am seconding the sunglasses idea. Your costume sounds so cool!

Your icon! I loved that bit in Leverage, especially when you think back to the pilot, how scared Sophie was to go down the stairwell on a harness. :O) Have you seen the finale? *hugs all of them*

The "Lennon" glasses sound cool, or you could just do good theatrical make-up. The button holes would only show when you close your eyes, but it would look awesome!

I was going to suggest frames with just plain glass. Then you could color the frames with an opaque marker/paint that allows you to see out of the entire frame. Might be easier than drilling holes in the sunglasses but less catchy than having real thread.
