1. Remember when the Daily Show featured this list?
(no, I don't remember who icon-ized it - if someone does please let me know so I can credit)
Hopefully we'll make it the next 70ish days sans Voldemort, Osama/Jenna or Rodents of Unusual Size.

2. Discussion on DailyKos today as to whether President-Elect Obama should avoid the public for the next few months or more because of the whackos out there - makes me wish for a human-sized, bulletproof hamster ball like this:

3. Went to a wedding last night at the former Versace place on South Beach. Lovely space, terrible air conditioning. It was cooler outside than it was in the inside courtyard-ish space, which made for a slightly uncomfortable cocktail hour.

4. Disney fans, did you see their new promotion? Buy a four night package, get three nights free, from January 4 through the end of June (except for the first week of April). It works in any Disney-owned hotel and includes your hotel stay and park pass (but not your dining). Could be very nifty!

5. Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] emmagrant01: Saturday November 15, at 10:30am PST, a massive nationwide simultaneous protest of anti-marriage amendments! To find the meeting point near you, go ">HERE. Pass it on! (I won't be at the Miami one because I'm having a procedure thing on Wednesday and won't be up to walking about on Saturday (no worries, totally elective!) but I will be there in spirit (and am donating a slew of water bottles to the Miami group).

6. Six believes in Barack Obama

7. [livejournal.com profile] yuletide! Only a few hours left to sign up! At least two fandoms I've requested have over two dozen offers, and only ME signed up as a recipient - I hope that bodes well for me! And I am slightly surprised that the 21st Century Politics RPF hasn't had more of a boom in the last week. Maybe it'll surge next year.

8. If you're registered for [livejournal.com profile] azkatraz, you can now add the Comic Con Bus Trip to your registration (and if you haven't registered yet, don't wait much longer! We're close to the max number of IMAX tickets for HBP's first showing!). The bus trip costs $200, and it includes transportation from the Parc 55 Hotel to the San Diego Convention Center - and along the way, there's breakfast, lunch and a VIP Tour of WB Studios in Los Angeles. More info is on the Azkatraz website.

(1) The icon was made by someone with the username relly_fortuna, according to my keywords. She doesn't appear to be on LJ anymore, if she ever was.

Okay, good to know. Relly, wherever you are - please know that your icon still makes people facepalm *and* feel happy at the same time.

VIP Tour of WB Studios in Los Angeles

I paid $150 for the all day VIP during WinCon 2007. Worth the money, IMO. The first part was the costume exhibit where the entire second floor was HP props/costumes. They had General Lee from the recent Dukes movie parked out front under tarp for a charity auction at the time. The tour guide, Dean, inquired which series we were into and I chimed in Supernatural, and he said he had met Jared, a nice guy, numerous times during Gilmore Girls, along with Jensen when they did SPN post-production visits and that he also watches SPN. He pointed out various GG parts of the studio, which were actively being used for filming other series while we were there, and we walked through one of the outdoor sets. Also, we got to see a live filming of Chuck and how they had to do a few takes. The main actor, Zack (?), waved at us and we spotted other Chuck actresses. Visited the Cold Case set, New/Old Christine sitcom set, and so much more. Dean was a very good tour guide. If you do get around to seeing the automobile prop section, where they do a green screen of you next to the Hogwarts Express, there's an image of the 1967 Impala on the wall.

Also, very yummy lunch. I had ordered rare steak and tenderloins and it was definitely a yummy lunch.

This is the standard VIP tour - the $45 one - but it's about 2.5 hours and we're working to get Extra Museum Time on it, so...

And yay impala!

Sounds like y'all will have fun! :-) At the time, they had props up from the fifth HP movie, including Umbridge's pink outfit of doom, in the museum. Very extensive HP collection on the second floor and a 'Privet Drive' sign to welcome you up the stairs. I saw CW's Smallville and One Tree Hill props, set next to each other on the first floor, in the museum but no Supernatural. This may have been updated.

Dunno if they're still doing it, but if you haven't already done so and next time you're out in LA, shoot for the all day because the $150 did include lunch and about 7-8 hrs of guided tours on one of those 'infamous' trolleys used in SPN's Hollywood Babylon for a touch of 'authentic' WB tour spoofing. Folk had a chance to also get close to sets and see some of the stored set props. It's been a year since I've done the tour and things will likely have changed.

Also, I'm shooting for Comic Con next year. If there are HP panels, I might try specking them out.

Unfortunately, I think about those wackos every single day, no joke.

Hey, I have to direct my pessimism somewhere.

I worry about the wackos, too. Everyone makes the comparison to Kennedy, and all I can think is, "Yeah, and look at how he ended up."

Kennedy... Martin Luther King... yeah.

It would suck royally, if something happened to him.

My pessimism foresees riots.

I try to remain positive by taking into account all the 'advancements' the Secret Service has made since then and how they have learned from the past attempts. I mean, at least candidates started getting SS protection after RFK's assassination...

Unless, you're a conspiracy theorist, who believes that JFK was assassinated by a plot of the American government.

I know... I hate myself.

Ugh. I mean, yeah, I don't deny that there is some serious crazy and threats out there but I am just crossing my fingers that 'they' do seem to be aware of it and taking precautions. (How sad is it that Barack had to give his acceptance speech behind bullet proof glass but McCain could concede out in the open!)

Well, at his concession speech, McCain didn't really matter any more, did he?

And maybe somebody hoped he would be shot?

Heh, yeah, no one cares about the loser. But it's just sad since SO MANY PEOPLE were SO HAPPY Obama won - I frickin' hate that 0.000001% of crazy that wants to mess everything up.

I still have not received any emails about Azkatraz. Was I supposed to?

I wanted SO MUCH to take advantage of the Disney offer; however, Will only wanted to go if his twin/wife could go too, and their schedules aren't compatible with ours for the sale period. So - we're not going. :( *disappointed*

Yep, we sent out a newsletter about 2 weeks ago. It's crossposted on the website but I can try and re-send it to you, too.

Meep re Disney - I hope there's a way to figure out a trip down here for y'all - would love to see you. But SanFran would be fantastic, too.

Here's a question: during his campaigning was President Obama's security private or Secret Service? I know now that at this point it has to be Secret Service just because.... y'know. I'm sure or at least I'm hoping that all whack jobs and their threats are taken seriously. My brother explained to me that the Secret Service is no joke and they're pretty ace.

Whoa? Did I have a question?
