They are now using some cover version of The Smiths' Every Day Is Like Sunday to promote Sunday Night Football.

OMGWTF?

ETA
Musical Snobbery is as OMGWTF as I am, as is at least one poster on mouthpiecesports.

What do you think?
[Poll #1259696]

ETA2
I have another OMGWTF? A friend of my sister's just emailed her disparaging Alan Greenspan's statement this week that McCain's tax cuts need to be linked to spending reductions (they were also talking about one of the AP articles about McCain's admittedly incorrect statements, like on The View) and friend H replied:
Both the AP and Alan Greenspan are lefty-bent sources.I think you know that I'm suspicious...so maybe you'll believe I've done the research??

What sort of research could result in someone thinking that Alan Greenspan is a lefty-bent source?

Unless H is one of those who now thinks Reagan wasn't a true conservative? I mean, I don't think the AP is lefty-leaning either, but Alan Greenspan?

I look forward to the NFL next using U2s Bloody Sunday to promote the game *facepalm*

somewhere in the world Morrisey is cutting himself at the news.

Yes, that would be more inapropriate.

Somewhere in the world I hope Morrissey is rolling around on his bed on thousands of dollar bills.

Although he is likely alone.

I thought that was a Sprint commercial for their NFL service or something...but then, I was not paying that close attention. However, it is logical that the NFL would attempt to steal your soul, as it has no soul of its own.

(And now we're getting "Space Oddity" selling Lincolns. I mean, honestly.)

With Space Oddity, at least it's a cover. Now, when they used Janis Joplin to sell Mercedes-Benzes, I was throwing stuff at the television (and vowed never in my life to buy a Mercedes-Benz).

I've heard "How Soon Is Now" on a Canadian Beer commercial too. All my hope is gone.

I gave up on having rational reactions to How Soon Is Now when I saw a Charmed fic-fest involving Smiths song-titled, which is weird because I never minded the song as used on the show....

*facepalm* Though Alan Greenspan preferred Clinton's fiscal policy to Bush Jr.'s, he is most definitely a Republican.

Alan "Ayn Rand's Inner Circle Protege" Greenspan? That Alan Greenspan? The famous one? Is... a lefty source now? I think my head hurts.

But, hey! If football now involves The Smiths, we've apparently woken up in bizarro world, so.

If Alan Greenspan is a lefty, than what does that make me? i'd be so far left, I'd circle the planet and come back on the other side as a cross-dressing Sean Hannity.

Isn't it a song about bombing cities or something? Seems vaguely appropriate. The cover is bad, though.

Shouldn't that be MP? McCain Press?

Greenspan is a lefty? Yep...all these years with the 'ultra-liberal' Andrea Mitchell will do that.

/snark

Yes, I have seen comments that say that Fox News is liberal. Anything that says that we have to pay any tax, can't bomb whoever we want whenever we want, and lets the women folk work...is just to librul for us.

Realistically, it's not a political distinction that the comment shows but a general ignorance of reality. We have them on both sides and it is a bit depressing that these people walk the same planet as the rest of us. :)

See that McCain commented today that "the fundamentals of the economy are strong"? He's technically correct, generally, but today isn't the day to make that comment. It's not that he doesn't even understand the economy or that his buddy Phil Gramm led us into this mess, but the GHWB-level of tone-deafness is astounding. Keep it up John. Even Sister Sarah won't be able to save you with a couple more of those comments.
