(I know a lot of people are disappointed that we have to wait nine extra months to see the film - I want to vid it as much as anyone (except maybe chaeche)! But think of seeing it surrounded by fandomers in tandem with a con! poaimaxnyc was fantastic - and this will be better!)

I actually don't mind the fact it is delayed. Normally Nov/Dec I'm crazy busy with Christmas (I live with a Christmas elf) and a release around the time of the con is WAY better IMO anyway :D

Someone on my list posted a copyright question and I was wondering if you could direct me to a reliable source? He's had three people answer him and all three have had vastly different answers. His question is:

If I am doing a class on SCA songs, is it permissible for me to print the copyrighted lyrics and use them as handouts?

What are the parameters?

The SCA is a medieval reenactment group btw. The class would be for an SCA event using SCA songs.

SCA is a 501(c)(3) educational entity, isn't it? If so then she has a good argument that her usage is educational and thus protected under fair use. She should make sure to put the copyright notices on the handouts to say who the owner of the copyright is. And it never hurts to ask permission, although in this case I don't think it's necessary.
And this was not legal advice, just a general statement of current law.
