Went to see Get Smart tonight. NOT the film to watch two hours after finishing DW and being all full of thoughts and wanting to talk about it, seriously. Cute film, lovely Batman and Hellboy trailers, all made better by two glasses of Reisling, but, still.
I actually surprised myself by not only liking how they wrapped up the Rose storyline - and I like that it's not all perfect sunny roses for her with her PseudoDoctorDonnaDoctor, but I think it's an interesting way to tie up a few threads. And yeah, I got teary. Meep.
Mickey and Martha at Torchwood? Wheeee! I guess Mickey and Jake didn't work out too well? Alas.
Hurrah for Sarah Jane!
And yay for Jackie the Warrior Mom!
But as for Donna...
Oh, so brilliant. She was so awesome, and she is so awesome, and she will find that awesomeness within her on her own or...
Here's what I am holding onto, desperately:
The memories are there, buried in her brain but there nonetheless.
And the Doctor has all the time in the universe to come up with a way for her to remember them, and perhaps be herself as she was just before she was electropulsed - like he had all the time to come up with a way to save River Song's essence-and-soul. There's a parallel there, and perhaps in one of the specials, or in the 2010 Season, we'll see him do it.
If this is only temporary (a temp! just a temp!) thing for Donna, I'm able to be okay with it.
Maybe it can be.
I hate the memory wipe. I do, and I love Donna for hating it and trying to stop it, and I hoped he would bring her to the library, or she would join with the Tardis, so that consciousness could continue to be around. But if there is a way to reverse what he did...
That wouldn't suck.
I respect that there wasn't a total reset button on the ep. Harriet is still dead, and the Doctor is going to be haunted by that for a while - and millions of people around the world and entities on other worlds are still dead, too, and the worlds are going to have to deal with that.
Still wondering, though...
What's up with Ms Lucy Saxon?
ETA: Oh! One more thing! the guy with Rose "Ten-not"?
ETA on Sunday afternoon: If the Doctor kindasorta regenerated into Donna, then does that mean that he finally accomplished that fantastic goal of being ginger?
