Homesick. None of my friends seem to be available to go do something and my family is in Texas, so I'm sitting in front of the computer, listening to the "Sounds of the Season" channel on the TV and trying not to be overwhelmed with the homesick feelings.

I was a wee babe during the Bicentennial, actually. So no remembrance.

I spent the day at the hospital in the cardiac care wing with my husband, so pretty much anything normal is out of the question today. I'd wanted to fire up the Foreman and grill something, then eat outside with the kids... but it all seems like a lot of work right now. Nearly everything I like to do seems childish and unimportant when he's in hospital.

So, instead I'll be watching episodes of All-American Girl with the kids, and guzzling iced tea. In short, relaxing for the first time in nearly a week. Tomorrow, I'll be recording Doctor Who for him, so that when he is released, we can watch it together. (As if he needs incentive to get well, right?)

No, but it is a good incentive. We're glad we planned for an inside dinner, as there's a lot of lightening right now; fireworks are probably going to get rained out, which means they'll get blasted off tomorrow.

Avoiding the heat, humidity and spattering rain showers which will make one consider suicide if trapped outdoors. We are going to the movies to see Wall-E. We thought that by goinbg tonight while (hopefully) everybody else is out doing the fireworks thing we could get into a showing with a minimum of screeching toddlers. :-)
